‘Feminism: the ugly truth’ – #9 bestseller in the amazon.co.uk ‘Government & Politics’ section

With sales of Feminism: the ugly truth running at such a high level, I shall start to explore the possibility of buying a villa on the French Riviera – one with a large outdoor pool, obviously – an ambition since I wrote my international bestselling travelogue Two Men in a car (a businessman, a chauffeur, and their holidays in France). I’ll ask one of the interns – Petronella, possibly, or maybe Harriet, or Yvette – to start checking out suitable properties online tomorrow morning.

Erin Gibson – and Randall – we thank you

The spate of spoiler reviews of Feminism: the ugly truth on Amazon.com has had the inevitable effect – we’ve seen it before – to boost sales of the book. The book is currently the #13 bestselling title in ‘Feminist Theory’, which is ironic, given the book explains that all ‘feminist theory’ is hate-driven Marxism-derived BS swallowed by gullible women (and some gullible men, to their eternal shame).

A number of people have posted supportive new reviews, some with 5 stars. An example, from ‘Randall’:

I just heard about this book and that it is being attacked by SJW trolls with one star reviews. It is very possible I wouldn’t have been led to this book if it wasn’t for your attack.

So, I am about to buy 2 copies of the book just to further piss you all off, and every time I see a new one star troll review, I will buy another copy and send it to a friend.

I am a cis white male heterosexual which we all know means I must have money since the world is just handed to me. I can keep it up for a while. Come on ladies, leave more reviews and we can fund the sequel!!!

Because the book is only available as an ebook – which has been the case since its publication in February 2012 – we assume Randall will be sending friends an Amazon gift token to cover the purchase price of the book, and we thank him warmly (as we do Erin Gibson, obviously). In the meantime, no doubt, feminists will keep trying to soak up dog’s urine from their carpets with their Kindle devices. I wonder if doing that invalidates the devices’ warranties?

Mike Buchanan’s interview with the ‘Mirror’

Last Wednesday I was interviewed at length in Canary Wharf by a young (male) journalist, Alex Hudson, for the Mirror. The video interview lasted over 30 minutes, but only 53 seconds are included in the piece just published. It’s the stage in the interview in which I made the outrageous assertion that men shouldn’t be hanged for patting women’s rears in nightclubs. Alex, of course, had raised the issue. He didn’t raise the issue of women patting men’s rears in nightclubs, it hardly needs to be said.

The piece is here. Predictably, it contains numerous misrepresentations of what I said, or of our published materials, but it’s good to see links to some of those materials including the election manifesto.

Alex makes an effort to discredit some of our evidence bases, but at times has the decency to provide links to our materials. One example is the briefing paper from Campaign for Merit in Business which presents evidence of a causal link between artificially driving up female representation on boards, and corporate financial decline. In response, Alex presents studies showing correlation with improved financial performance, presumably with a view to leading people to assume correlation is the same as causation. It doesn’t. It doesn’t even imply it, as these studies invariably point out. From the first page of one of the reports he cites, from Harvard University:

Women have been gaining ground on corporate boards. They held 14.8% of Fortune 500 seats in 2007. Yet the effect of women on corporate performance is a matter of some debate. Studies using data at one or two points in time find that gender diversity on boards is associated with higher stock values and greater profitability.

However, studies using panel data over a number of years, which explore the effects of adding women to boards, generally show no effects, or negative effects. [Our emphasis.] This suggests that the association between board diversity and performance identified in cross-sectional studies is spurious; a consequence perhaps of the fact that successful firms appoint women to their boards.

So a study Alex cites to challenge our position actually supports it. Priceless. As we always say:

At this stage, there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

Three more women publicly reject feminism

There have always been many independent-minded women who reject feminism privately, but not many prepared to do so publicly. The number who are prepared to reject feminism publicly is growing by the day, as we know from #WomenAgainstFeminism and elsewhere. Here are three more, who’ve made videos in which they outline their thinking. We applaud all three of them for their integrity and courage.

Martin Honeysett RIP

I was saddened to learn of the recent death (after a short illness) of Martin Honeysett, 71, one of my favourite British cartoonists since the 1970s. His obituary in the Telegraph is here. We offer Penny, his partner for the past 19 years, our condolences.

When I was finalising my book David and Goliatha: David Cameron – heir to Harman? in 2010, I had an idea for a cartoon for the cover, and wanted a cartoonist who was a dab hand at drawing grotesque characters. Martin was the obvious choice, and was alive, well, living in Hastings, and happy to undertake the work. He was a pleasure to work with, and his final design is here. The book is now out of print – used copies occasioally turn up on Amazon and elsewhere – but almost all the content is contained in The Glass Ceiling Delusion.

Article on J4MB in the highest circulation daily newspaper in Spain, ‘El Pais’

[Note added 27.1.15: We thank Herbert Purdy for his excellent translation of the El Pais article, scroll down to read the content, in his comment.]

We’re used to this blog getting a high number of hits from around the world, but today we’ve had an unusually large number from Spain. Most are traceable to an article in Madrid-based El Pais, the highest circulation daily newspaper in Spain. The article is here.

Erin Gibson – the genius orchestrating spoiler ‘reviews’ of ‘Feminism: the ugly truth’ on Amazon.com

[Note added 27.1.15: While you’re here, why not check out why Caroline Criado-Perez has won three ‘Lying Feminist of the Month’ awards? Details here.]

Our thanks to J for his detective work in tracking this and this down. A few people have suggested I report the ‘reviews’ to amazon.com in a bid to have them removed. I have no intention of doing so, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to do so. What better indicator could we ask for, to demonstrate the herd instinct, the nastiness, and the sheer stupidity of feminists? The more the merrier. I should be delighted to see a million such ‘reviews’.

You couldn’t make it up, could you? Feminists are now actively promoting J4MB.

Thanks, ladies.

The latest spoiler review of ‘Feminism: the ugly truth’ on Amazon.com

My thanks to Amy, a supporter in the United States, for alerting me to the latest 1-star spoiler review of Feminism: the ugly truth on Amazon.com:

1.0 out of 5 stars NON ABSORBENT PAGES, January 25, 2015
By S.T. – See all my reviews
This review is from: Feminism: The Ugly Truth (Kindle Edition)

The pages in this book aren’t absorbent enough to soak up my dog’s pee in the carpet. I tried several pages but it’s like one of those paper towel commercials in my home. Next edition should have more absorbent pages.

The book – originally published in February 2012 – has only been made available in e-book editions, which makes you wonder, has ‘ST’ been trying to soak up her ‘dog’s pee in the carpet’ with a Kindle device, or another e-reader? If so, that would place her (or possibly him) firmly in the upper quartile of feminists in terms of IQ.

A revision to Caroline Criado-Perez’s third ‘Lying Feminist of the Month’ award certificate

We have yet to hear back from YouTube concerning our appeal against them taking down the full video file of my recent ITV discussion with Caroline Criado-Perez – in which she performed so woefully in the first session, that another women had to be brought in to support her for the second – and our understanding is that ITV is currently making just four minutes of the original 19-minute footage available online.

No matter. We’ve revised her award certificate to link to those four minutes, in the course of which she cheerfully admitted to having won her awards because she’d lied – she laughed, and clearly felt no need to explain why she’d lied, nor apologised for having done so. In the same video clip she uttered the lie which led to her third award. The revised design of her third certificate is here:

We shall be monitoring her media appearances carefully, so it may not be long before she lands her fourth award. In the meantime Kate Smurthwaite, a feminist ‘comedienne’, is in contention for the award, after having claimed on her Facebook page that two women a week are killed by male partners.
