LGBTQIA+

For some obscure reason I get emails from the Oxford Union, a body which is fiercely proud of itself, yet won’t give a platform to anti-feminist speakers – in much the same way that Claire Fox’s Institute of Ideas won’t. Part of an email I’ve just received:

APPLICATIONS STILL OPEN FOR LGBTQIA+ OFFICER

Being a part of the Oxford Union appointed committee can be a very rewarding experience, with great opportunities to organise some fantastic events. Opportunities are still available, in particular with the LGBTQIA+ Officer position, which will have responsibility for representing the needs of LGBTQIA+ members and the wider LGBTQIA+ community within the Society.

In order to apply, please send a written application of no more than 200 words which details the experience you have and what changes you would hope to make, to president@oxford-union.org.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Now I get that LGBT is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual. I believe Q is queer, and the distinction between Q and LG is surely of interest only to people obsessed with furthering themselves in the Oppression Olympics. But ‘IA+’? Irish, arthritic? This is starting to get a little silly…

Alison Saunders’s response to our FOI request is now SEVEN weeks overdue

Alison Saunders, Director of Public Prosecutions, failed to respond by the required deadline to our FOI request asking for minutes of meetings she’s had since she took on her role, with organizations advocating for victims of domestic and/or sexual abuse. Her response is now SEVEN weeks overdue.

Our letter to Ms Saunders is here. We’ll publish a post each week on the delay, and email the Crown Prosecution Service each time, until we get a response,

Children denied visits to fathers in jail after rule changes – charity

Our thanks to Paul for this. The start of the article:

Barnardo’s says male prisoners are being denied visits from their children either as punishment or because they have not ‘earned’ right.

Thousands of children are being denied visiting rights to see their fathers in prison because of changes to the prison discipline system, according to a report.

The report, Locked Out, by the children’s charity Barnardo’s, says 17,000 children a month visit a parent in prison, and changes to the incentives and earned privileges (IEP) scheme mean that prison visits are being used as a way to enforce discipline.

The new regime has resulted in male prisoners being denied visits from their children, either as a punishment or because they have not “earned” the right. The report estimates that there are 200,000 children with a parent in jail.

The rules do not apply to women’s prisons, [my emphasis] where official guidance explicitly states that children of prisoners should not be penalised in effect for their mother’s actions.

Let women put careers on menopause: England’s chief medical officers say female workers should get time off to deal with the symptoms

Our thanks to a number of supporters for pointing us to this.

Not for the first time, and assuredly not for the last, Professor Dame Sally Davies, England’s Chief Medical Officer, proves herself to be a blithering idiot. She’s a strong contender for a Gormless Feminist Lifetime Achievement Award.

BBC libels Mike Buchanan as ‘anti-women’ and supports criminal attacks by campus cry bullies

Our thanks to HEqual for this. It’s easy to miss nuanced BBC propaganda at times. I missed that Tiger Drew-Honey referred to me as ‘anti-women’ – rather than anti-feminist – and I wasn’t given the opportunity to challenge the assertion. Whenever it’s made – it usually turns up in accusations of misogyny or sexism – I challenge people to find anything anti-women in anything I’ve ever written, said, or done, and none of these people have ever come up with anything. And they never will.

HEqual spotted something else I’d missed, the background music playing during the J4MB section. This is very insidious manipulation of viewers, the people who fund these damnable programme makers. People sometimes ask me why I agree to appear in BBC TV and radio programmes, given they’re always – or virtually always – hatchet jobs, and my answer is always the same. People check out our websites – particularly this one – and soon grasp the extent of the BBC’s feminist-driven anti-male bias. There are many examples here. Just scroll down to ‘BBC anti-male bias’.

There are less than four hours to go before the deadline for pre-registering for ICMI16. Plenty of people have left it to the final hours, as expected, and bookings are coming in at an unprecedented rate. If you want to be sure of attending ICMI16, you need to pre-register here.

I have one request to make of you. In recent weeks we’ve said numerous times that only by pre-registering can you be sure of attending ICMI16, a three-day event with a stellar line-up of 18 speakers from around the world. If you fail to pre-register, and it leads to you being unable to attend the event, please don’t contact me expecting me to summon a ticket from thin air. There will be none available. As the saying goes, when they’re gone, they’re gone.
