The extreme anti-male bias of the Ministry of Justice with respect to prison sentencing

About 80,000 of the 84,000 people in British prisons are men (95%). Last November William Collins showed in an important article that if British men were sentenced as leniently as women by the courts, five out of six men currently in prison wouldn’t be there. The male prison population would be reduced to about 13,000, ending the problem of prison overcrowding at a stroke, and saving huge amounts of taxpayers’ money.

Five weeks ago we sent a FoI request on the prison sentencing gender gap, with plenty of supporting evidence, to Michael Gove MP, Justice Secretary. Last Friday we received a truly woeful response from his department. You can access the original document we sent to Michael Gove, the MoJ response, and our critique of it here. The value of the MoJ response lies largely in its unwitting revelation of the extreme anti-male bias of the department, a bias which is also apparent throughout the criminal justice system.

Justice should be blind, we can all agree… but it manifestly isn’t gender blind.

Whiny Feminist of the Month – Sarah Pritchard, an associate professor at Cornell University

The only thing that stops us from presenting more regular awards to feminists who lie, who whine, or who are gormless, is a lack of available time. There are only so many hours in the day, and many other things to do. But we thought a recent Lucian Valsan video about Sarah Pritchard, a whiny associate professor at Cornell University, deserved to be recognized. And so it is that Ms Pritchard wins our Whiny Feminist of the Month award. The reasons are on her award certificate, along with a link to Lucian’s video:

A list of previous winners of the award, with links to their award certificates, is here.

Belinda Brown will be appearing on ‘Woman’s Hour’ in 10 hours’ time

It’s just come to our attention that Belinda Brown, a social anthropologist, will be appearing on Woman’s Hour this morning (10:00 – 11:00) and we’ll be sure to listen in, and probably post her contribution on our YouTube channel.

Belinda is one of very few holders of our coveted Maggie award, and links to a number of her excellent pieces are on her award certificate – here.

Sophie Walker – the leader of the Women’s Equality Party

Our thanks to Mike for pointing us to this, an article by a journalist at the Telegraph, written by a young woman (what are the chances?). I particularly enjoyed her reference to FTSO100 board directors. The article is so fawning towards, and uncritical of, the WEP, that it could have been written by the gormless ladies at the Fawcett Society.

The six goals of the WEP are stated in the article and repeated below, with our brief commentary:

1. Equal representation in politics and business – regardless of women’s relative willingness (compared with men) to enter those fields, their work ethic, experience and expertise? Of course. Special treatment rather than equality, then.

2. Equal representation in education – the education system has favoured girls since 1987/8, and the majority of teachers and university students have been women for years. What form of equal representation are these fruitcakes seeking?

3. Equal pay – can these women really be so stupid as to not understand what drives the f/t gender pay gap, which only exists for workers over 40, and has nothing to do with employers paying men more than women for the same work? Yes, they can!

4. Equal treatment of women in the media – what does this mean?

5. Equal parenting rights – so WEP will be campaigning for women’s parenting rights to be reduced in line with men’s? Excellent. About damned time we had some gender equality in this area.

6. An end to violence against women – no need for an end to violence by women, against men and women, then? The highest levels of intimate partner violence are found in lesbian couples, and in most cases where interpersonal violence in a heterosexual relationship is one-directional, the perpetrators are women.

All six goals are either ridiculous or baffling. We can be sure it won’t be long before Ms Walker wins one of our awards, probably all three in time:

– Lying Feminist of the Month
– Whiny Feminist of the Month
– Gormless Feminist of the Month

How can we be so sure of this? Sandy Toksvig, WEP spokeswoman, won two Lying Feminist of the Month awards in the space of just three months – here and here.

The idea of a Women’s Equality Party is so absurd, its mere existence will direct support to J4MB. Thanks, ladies.

Ally Fogg: ‘Feminist indoctrination in schools? The Telegraph’s tankful of bullshit.’

Yesterday the Telegraph published an excellent piece by Dan Bell of InsideMan about feminist indoctrination in schools, and we posted a link to it. This morning Ally Fogg posted a robust challenge of the piece. I read Fogg’s post and decided the content – ideologically-driven and uncritical of feminists, as usual – wasn’t worth bothering J4MB supporters with.

I’ve just had a call from a supporter informing me that Dan Bell has posted a lengthy and insightful response (comment #6). Enjoy.

BBC’s voice of golf Peter Alliss (84) causes new sexism storm by saying Open winner’s wife would spend his winnings on a new kitchen

Priceless. A tip of the hat to Mr Alliss.

An extract from the article:

He (Alliss) said that many female players had given up the sport as a result of changes to the law saying: ‘There’s been a hell of a row because four golf courses that hold the Open Championship didn’t have women members.

‘I’m told the Ladies’ Golf Union has lost 150,000 members since equality for women came in. Hundreds of women have left golf clubs because they’ve gone from paying half fare to full fare. It’s caused mayhem.

‘All of the wives of members at these clubs could have used the facilities for free. When I was at Muirfield a couple of years ago talking to a few of the lady members, I said: “What about this equality? You must be happy about that?” “God no,” they said. “We can come here and do what we like, we can play golf and don’t pay anything”.’

Gender equality is a fine thing…
