  1. Woman told police ‘put me away now’ after beating terminally-ill partner to death – Manchester Evening News I’m sure this won’t get national news. But an extreme example of a not infrequent scenario of a wife or partner feeling “I didn’t sign up for this” when “their man” is needing care. In my experience in social work older male husbands/partners tended to believe it was their “duty”. While contrary to popular belief many wives/partners used to relying on “their man” couldn’t cope with hm failing in health.
