Which just goes to show how high minded our intellectuals really are.Curtis was also one of the two co-writers of The Vicar of Dibley, a comedy series which relentlessly portrayed men as buffoons.

In both the Newspaper columns Bridget Jones Diaries and the later novel Helen Fielding wrote based on her Newspaper columns ; “Bridget not only obsesses about her love life, but also details her various daily struggles with her weight, her over-indulgence in alcohol and cigarettes, and her career”. It would have been pretty silly to ignore a major component of the plot and humor in the screenplay.
