The Istanbul Convention / Grevio

Our thanks to Jack Slocum for this:

Mike, you are aware, of course, of the Istanbul Convention, but are you aware that a body was set up to monitor it (that is, that it is being introduced “correctly”) ?

The body is called Grevio : https://www.coe.int/en/web/istanbul-convention/grevio

The body is gender-balanced as per our times, i.e. twelve women and three men, and it has just attacked the Dutch government for the way it has interpreted the Istanbul Convention, gender-neutrally. From what I have read, the Dutch are not too bad when it comes to sex equality. Pension ages are the same and people accused of sex offences are granted anonymity until found guilty. In the present case, however, Grevio thinks the Istanbul thing should be gender biased in favour of women, This is exactly what Philip Davies suggested would happen in the House of Commons debate:

Labour crisis: Jess Phillips admits leadership campaign disaster – ‘I was awful’

Oh dear. How sad. Never mind. Completely lackling self-awarreness, and surely suffering from Narcissistic Personality Disorder, The Yadley Gob will not realise that her admission “I was awful” applies from at least the day she was selected as a prospective parliamentary candidate from an all-women shortlist, to stand in the 2015 general election, and probably for many years before that. Has there ever been a more woeful MP?

We remain hopeful that she will be the next leader of the Labour party, but with all four female candidates being eye-wateringly poor – one have been described as even poorer than Phillips – Sir Keir Starmer seems certain to win the contest.

New Stalking Protection Orders will destroy more relationships and families

From a government website, the start:

1 Applications for orders

(1) A chief officer of police may apply to a magistrates’ court for an order (a “stalking protection order”) in respect of a person (the “defendant”) if it appears to the chief officer that—

(a) the defendant has carried out acts associated with stalking,

(b) the defendant poses a risk associated with stalking to another person, and

(c) there is reasonable cause to believe the proposed order is necessary to protect another person from such a risk (whether or not the other person was the victim of the acts mentioned in paragraph (a)). [J4MB emphasis]

(2) A stalking protection order is an order which, for the purpose of preventing the defendant from carrying out acts associated with stalking—

(a) prohibits the defendant from doing anything described in the order, or

(b) requires the defendant to do anything described in the order.

(3) A chief officer of police for a police area in England and Wales may apply for a stalking protection order only in respect of a person—

(a) who resides in the chief officer’s police area, or

(b) who the chief officer believes is in that area or is intending to come to it.

(4) A risk associated with stalking—

(a) may be in respect of physical or psychological harm to the other person;

(b) may arise from acts which the defendant knows or ought to know are unwelcome [J4MB emphasis: could the bar to disadvantage men be any lower?] to the other person even if, in other circumstances, the acts would appear harmless in themselves. [J4MB emphasis. A woman needs only to decide what is “unwelcome” and a man’s life may be ruined.]

(5) It does not matter—

(a) whether the acts mentioned in subsection (1)(a) were carried out in a part of the United Kingdom or elsewhere, or

(b) whether they were carried out before or after the commencement of this section.

(6) See section 2A of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 for examples of acts associated with stalking.

A piece in yesterday’s Observer. An extract:

The stalking protection orders, unveiled today, aim to block [J4MB: alleged] perpetrators from approaching their [J4MB: alleged] victims and allow courts in England and Wales to move quicker to ban [J4MB: alleged] stalkers from contacting or visiting [J4MB: alleged] victims.

It’s all too predictable how this will play out. Women – often on the advice of the police or “women’s organizations” – will seek the new orders against their partners,. They need not even make false allegations to obtain them, they could simply state any contact from their partner (direct or indirect) is “unwelcome”. Their partners will then be in the position that they cannot even attempt reconciliation, and over time the permanent destruction of the relationship (and possibly family) will become a near certainty, and feminism will have had another victory . Another extract from the article:

The new stalking protection orders will come into effect immediately. In addition to banning [J4MB: alleged] perpetrators from approaching or contacting their [J4MB: alleged] victims, the orders can also force [J4MB: alleged] stalkers to seek professional help. [J4MB: An exercise in utter futility if they’re not actually stalkers.]

The orders will normally last for a minimum of two years, with a breach counting as a criminal offence that can result in up to five years in prison.

Speakers’ Corner, London – where Men’s Rights Activists (MRAs) and other anti-feminists meet.

I greatly enjoy visiting Speakers’ Corner every second Sunday to campaign on men’s issues, challenge feminism etc. It’s always good to meet up with supporters and the stalwart members of the London Group.

However, I’ve been given medical advice to self-isolate in response to the coronavirus threat, because I have a couple of pre-existing medical conditions which could make catching it particularly risky. So my visit to Speakers’ Corner three days ago was my last for the foreseeable future, I’m sorry to say. I thought I’d post enough footage from the day’s events to give a sense of our campaigning there, and the challeges we face. I’ve edited the footage myself, not something I normally do, so expect one or two glitches! The video is here (37:50).

We’ve recently been adopting a new approach on our anti-MGM campaigning, seeking to persuade parents not to circumcise their sons. One of the new placard designs is here.

When we return to Speakers’ Corner, I urge you to join us there and support the MRAs and other anti-feminists who regularly campaign there, speak publicly etc. We always have a great time, spreading the word on men’s issues, feminism, Male Genital Mutilation (MGM)…

We campaign for men and women to have equal rights, because women and girls have rights denied to men and boys in many areas. 20 such areas were explored in  our 2015 general election manifesto. One of our “equal rights” placard designs is here.

We campaign against MGM, a crime under the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861, being at least ABH, and almost certainly GBH. The party’s playlist of 100+ video and audio pieces relating to MGM is here. It includes footage taken at Speakers’ Corner.

If you’d like to know if we’re planning to attend Speakers’ Corner on a particular Sunday, please contact us (info@j4mb.org.uk).

TRUE BLUE: Tories warn Boris Johnson not to turn party into ‘Labour light’ after winning over working-class voters

An interesting piece in today’s Sun on Sunday. The following extract was written by the peerless Philip Davies MP:

In the General Election last month, some of those voters decided enough was enough and bravely defied habit and history to vote Conservative for the first time.  I believe this was partly to do with Brexit but also because of the deeply unpopular political stance of Jeremy Corbyn.

When it came to a choice between those who wholeheartedly sung “The Red Flag” and those who offered a “Land of Hope and Glory” many traditional Labour voters chose the latter.

The most important thing to do – which is now thankfully well under way – is to deliver a proper and successful Brexit in a way that was prevented by the previous Parliament.

Some might think that the best way for the Conservative Party to keep these former Labour voters is to sound a bit more like the Labour Party and tack to the left. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The Conservative Party must take advantage of this cutting of the Socialist nanny state apron strings and immediately introduce some Conservative policies.

Many of these people are right of centre in outlook and only voted Labour for historical reasons and as a result of a misguided class warfare.

They did not vote Labour through any kind of belief in Labour Party policies.

Their views on many things such as crime, welfare dependency and immigration are actually very much in tune with Conservative philosophy.

The last thing we should do is try to mimick the very thing these voters have just turned their back on.

We must show Conservative principles in action and how these align with these voters’ actual thinking so that they do not return to their former dogged support for a Labour Party that actually offers the opposite of what they want and need.

The Conservative Party’s belief in a smaller but more effective state will provide better solutions to problems and a better life for people – not least by ensuring they keep more of their own money to spend on their personal priorities and not the priorities of a bloated, interfering, all encompassing, politically correct, Socialist nanny state.

Despite historically voting Labour, many of these voters are aspirational and they need to see a Conservative Government rewarding them and their families for working hard and doing the right thing.

An absolute priority for this Government must be to crack down on the crime that blights people’s lives.

The Conservative Party was always the party of law and order and yet recent successive leaders have failed to seize this all-important essential ingredient of Conservatism.

Getting more police as promised is a great start – albeit a shame it was even necessary in the first place.

Then we need to get much tougher on those who commit crimes at every level and we must stop treating criminals as if they are somehow the victims.

Stiffer prison sentences and ending early release would be a great way of showing these new blue collar Conservative voters we are on their side and on their wavelength.

The Labour Party have abandoned the working classes they were formed to represent. Instead they have become a trendy, left-wing, metropolitan, London-centric, middle class, politically correct cult.

Many working class voters now realise that it is blue collar Conservative values that best represent them and reflect their values.

Corbyn’s socialist nightmare would have destroyed our great country, and we now have a chance to stop socialism for the foreseeable future.

We must not make the politically fatal mistake of trying to be like Labour.

We need to show the voters who have put their trust in us this time – for the first time – that Conservatism is actually their natural home.

Many in the Labour Party think that post-Brexit these voters will return their votes to them.

If the Conservative Party does the right things and stays true to blue collar Conservative values – and particularly whilst ever the Labour Party continues to ignore them – I think these voters could become Conservatives for good.
