The Church of Sweden has voted to adopt a controversial new handbook which says masculine references to God, such as “He” and “Lord” should be scrapped so as to be more “inclusive”.

Our thanks to Martin for this. An extract:

Priest Helena Edlund, who blasted the church as having shown “a total unwillingness to listen to criticism”, expressed concern over the new language guidelines.

“The risk is that we fail to notice the small changes and then gradually over time we find ourselves looking at drastic changes we never would have accepted if they were put to us immediately,” she told Världen Idag last year.

At ICMI18 the Rev Jules Gomes – ‘The Rebel Priest’ – will give a talk, ‘Singing in the ruins: How feminists have destroyed the Church of England beyond repair’. The speaker list is here.

  1. How utterly ludicrous. I have always known God a He, and no woman in my parish has ever expressed any offense at God being male, neither did they feel excluded.
This handbook is completely unnecessary and is not wanted by the vast majority of Christians.
I dare say that many of the people who support this notion are mostly not even Christian, and probably have no interest in (or respect for) religion whatsoever.

    • I’ve long suspected that the reason Judaeo Christian religion is more popular with women than men is precisely because it offers the former a powerful yet understanding and forgiving father figure, amongst other things (some variant of confession, absolution etc.).

  2. Cuck central has an address now I see. As a non-believer this means little to me of course, but one wonders when men in the West will accept they are entitled to some public mention that isn’t tied to the accusation of sexism against women.
