“Claire Bridger, 64, accepted she “saw red” when car dealer Keith revealed he had euthanised the “yappy” dachshunds without telling her…
But she denied and was cleared of attempted murder after claiming she forgot twice plunging a knife into her husband while screaming at him.
Bridger, who admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, has now been jailed after Keith suffered life-threatening injuries including a punctured lung.
A medical expert who carried out a psychiatric assessment stated that “a combination of alcohol and extreme emotional arousal” during the incident could have caused her amnesia…
When police arrived at the scene, blood-covered Bridger told one officer: “I am a bad lady”.
The court heard Keith suffered “severe injuries which were life threatening” – including a punctured lung.
He was given two units of blood by paramedics and had his chest sealed to try and stop further bleeding while being transferred to hospital.”

The account I read, in the Mirror, said she drove round discussed paying for “mediation” with her estranged husband, basically to get him to agree to pay for it. And then became wild when she learned the dogs had been put down. Either way you’d have to wonder why exactly she had knife with her. The chap nearly died after an unprovoked and frenzied attack from an inebriated and vengeful assailant Had the sexes been reversed I’m sure jury and Judge would not have been so generous. After all if a male is drunk it is a contributory factor not one that mitigates. Once again the subtle gynocentrism is about responsibility. Get drunk, act hysterically, almost kill someone then claim amnesia and if you’re a woman its all mitigated because these contribute to your lack of responsibility for your actions. Do the same as a male and they’d be contributary because he got himself drunk, should have contained his anger and cannot claim to have forgotten it all. The “book” would be thrown at him! I’m a supporter of Juries in these days of attempts to do away with them. But in a way the feminists are right that they can be a bit wayward, however all real evidence is that they reflect the cultural favouring of females rather than feel protective of men. Lets be honest here few in our society apply the exact same standards to women as to men. We are, deep within ourselves, disposed to greater generosity to one sex over the other. A situation at its most evident with the rows in European countries as they implement various measures to apply legal obligations to submit to forced labour (conscription) to men. In all but two women have no such obligations but can opt in if they choose in a couple. In short men have responsibilities and no choice about them. Mr. Bridger’s life, it seems, is worth less if his assailant is female.
