I commented on this to disagree. In my experience I find young working class men in my region remarkably similar to my youth. I think it really interesting that in the region to recruitment adverts that get repeated are the “born in Carlisle made in the royal navy” and Army “comradeship”. with the more PC adverts seemingly shown rarely.
Its sad in a way but I think an appeal to protect “women and children” and exhibit stoicism etc. would recruit again if there was a national threat.
In a way the feminist enterprise has simply turned one way of being gynocentric into another. Meanwhile as I look around men are still “taking care of business”. I think its a mistake to assume that because the opportunities to take on the male role have diminished, that this is what men (or women) want. Having glanced at the DM I see there is yet another “where are all the men” articles. As usual I expect its self declared “fabulous” women who can’t “bag” a high earner, just as in Jane Austin’s day there simply weren’t enough landed aristos to go round in the Bath and London season.
What surprises me most is the decades of trashing “maleness” hasn’t eradicated it so much as made it “underground” or at least disappear from “polite” society.
In a sense I agree with the feminists, its not that the traditional male role has disappeared, fortunately for us all its just the same(otherwise as JB pointed out civilisation would literally stop) , just much harder to perform.
