David Moyes: Sunderland manager charged by FA over ‘slap’ comment

Our thanks to Stu for this. Moyes should never have apologised for a remark that was clearly meant in a humorous spirit, and taken as such, I believe. An apology implies wrongdoing, even when there was none. It’s the reason that Ched Evans is to be commended for not having apologised to a woman with whom he had sex, leading to his vexatious prosecution, conviction, and imprisonment for a rape that never happened.

  1. This, and and items like it, set a dangerous precedent for new ‘speech rape laws’.
    “Never explain” said Churchill.
He might have added ‘never apologise’ too
Already we have laws that curtail our freedom of speech.
    What’s next?
