Our thanks to Stu for this. Moyes should never have apologised for a remark that was clearly meant in a humorous spirit, and taken as such, I believe. An apology implies wrongdoing, even when there was none. It’s the reason that Ched Evans is to be commended for not having apologised to a woman with whom he had sex, leading to his vexatious prosecution, conviction, and imprisonment for a rape that never happened.
If everyone who read this gave us just £1 – or even better, £1 monthly – we could change the world. Click here to make a difference. Thanks.

Moyes should have studied history. He failed to make a stand, was captured and is to be sacrificed. Fighting back is the only hope for those under attack but it’s too late for Moyes.

This, and and items like it, set a dangerous precedent for new ‘speech rape laws’.
“Never explain” said Churchill.
He might have added ‘never apologise’ too
Already we have laws that curtail our freedom of speech.

Only realistic choice for football managers now is to simply refuse to speak to reporters. Not sure why they need to anyway.
