Since the day we launched J4MB, a little over four years ago, our finances have always been in the black. Among the top donors is Ken S., who made several donations of £1,000 in support of our 2015 general election campaign. Another donation of £1,000 came out of the blue two or three days ago. I asked him if he’d pen something on why he’s a donor to J4MB. This is what he wrote:

I made the donation for lots of reasons. Firstly it’s been a long time since I last actually did something to help the cause. Secondly I don’t know if it’s just me, but the news seems even more skewed towards a feminist agenda lately. The feminist reaction to Donald Trump has been rabid. The media have abandoned all pretence of political impartiality and are supporting it to the hilt.

I occasionally glance at the BBC and it sickens me how one-sided their coverage is, even more so as we are basically forced to financially support this institution under threat of jail. What must foreigners think of the UK when they see the BBC’s output? Add in the steady drip-drip anti-male tone of the adverts and the way dramas and comedies portray men, and TV has become basically unwatchable for any self-respecting man.

Thirdly, politicians (yourself and Philip Davies being honourable exceptions) still seem completely in thrall to this one-eyed approach to the gender debate. The most trivial imagined infraction against women is blown out of all proportion while men’s issues continue to be brushed under the carpet.

Fourthly there is some work-related stuff which I’d rather not go into too deeply, but let’s just say that when things get tough in the workplace, there are certain kinds of people who recognise the need to put in 16-hour days to solve the problem. And there are other kinds who go home at 4:50 pm just like every other day. There are people who say they can do a job just as well as any man even though they are pregnant, but those people are somehow allowed to use that pregnancy as an excuse to leave early and come in late. Those same people naturally expect that there will be a job for them to return to if and when they deign to return. They expect the same promotion prospects as the people turning in 16 hour days, and of course they expect the same pay.

It’s getting to the point where I am seriously considering leaving the country so that I don’t have to pay taxes to support these people. They clearly have zero respect for me but demand absolute respect for themselves. Until I can find a viable way to get out , supporting J4MB seems like one of the few things I can usefully do about it.

I don’t have the energy, the tenacity or the gift of the gab to be much of a political activist. I have enough money to be reasonably comfortable, and I have a choice; either I can spend it on the latest piece of meaningless consumer crap, keep on ranting on message boards and expect things magically to change, or I can put my money where it might actually make a difference.
