Philip Davies MP and Mark Pearson will be speaking at ICMI16

This announcement is, we think, a bit special. We already have 20 impressive speakers scheduled for the London conference, and I’m delighted to announce two more. The following is drawn from the ‘Speakers’ tab on the conference website, just updated:

160411 Philip Davies MPPhilip Davies MP – ‘The Justice Gender Gap’

Philip has been the Conservative MP for Shipley since 2005. He’s a highly regarded advocate for men’s rights, the only such MP in the House of Commons. Examples of his work include revealing startling gender differences in prison sentencing, in 2012 – video here. On International Men’s Day (2015) he introduced the first parliamentary debate on men’s issues – video here.

160411 Mark PearsonMark Pearson – ‘Facing my Waterloo’

Mark is an award-winning contemporary artist, trained at the Royal College of Art. He recently became the focus of an international news story, when he was falsely accused of sexually assaulting an actress when walking past her in Waterloo Station. He advocates an end to the institutional misandry in the Crown Prosecution Service.

The head of the Crown Prosecution Service is Alison Saunders, a recent Toxic Feminist of the Month.

We have a strict limit of 200 people in the conference room at ICMI16. Not many tickets are left now, so if you’re thinking of attending, now is the time to order your ticket(s). Please don’t contact me after they’ve run out, expecting me to perform a miracle and make a ticket available. That simply won’t be possible. You can order your ticket(s) here.

Facebook removed AVfM’s page – at the behest of Rose S Garston

[Note added 12.4.16: The Facebook ban on the AVfM page has just been lifted.]

Just published. Facebook took the AVfM Facebook page down because of this report from Rose S Garston – our thanks to J for archiving it, great catch. Ms Garston describes herself on her Facebook page as:

Thorn in the side of MRAs.

Another archived page from her site is here. She’s one of those ‘I love my fat body’ types – there’s a photo of her holding a sheet of paper, on which exactly that is written – and her comment stream includes this:

Stop the fat shaming. Fat is beautiful. Fat is healthy. It is the patriarchy that has dictated women must all be skinny as rakes for the viewing pleasure of men. Fuck that. You want that donut? That chicken burger and fries? That 15inch pizza? Then, go for it. Get it down you. Enjoy. (smile emoticon)

Word of advice though. Being fat wont stop men catcalling you. At my heaviest I was 717lb and men would still catcall me when I was in my mobility scooter buying groceries.

Ellie Melaugh, 20, put her ex through revenge porn nightmare. Suspended sentence.

Here we go again. Extracts:

A jilted saleswoman turned her ex’s life into a ‘nightmare’ after posting explicit images of him on the internet. Ellie Melaugh is believed to be the first female convicted of targeting a man since so-called revenge porn legislation was introduced a year ago.

The 20-year-old uploaded intimate photographs of her former boyfriend to Facebook and Twitter, and set up a fake profile on dating site Plenty of Fish. The images, accompanied by his name and full address, were seen by the victim’s mother and grandparents as well as countless strangers…

Melaugh also threatened to burn down her ex’s house and messaged his sister, saying: ‘I hope that your little girl gets cancer.’

The victim said he was forced to leave his job as a manager at a respected national firm as a result of the attacks. He said: ‘She was a childish woman who would strop, stamp her feet and cry if she did not get her way.

‘Near the end of the relationship I felt scared of her, she would not leave me alone. One night we rowed and I said I would go to the pub so she could calm down. When I turned around she was eating my money to stop me. She had a £10 note in her mouth and swallowed it.’…

Melaugh, of Bromley, South East London, admitted a revenge pornography offence and harassment at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court last month. Sentencing her to a 12-week jail term, suspended for two years, magistrate Rachel Lipscomb described Melaugh as ‘vulnerable’.

Jeremy Corbyn states his support for Male Genital Mutilation

Our thanks to John for this piece in The Jewish Chronicle two months ago. An extract:

The meeting had been “the beginning of a conversation” between British Jews and the party, Mr Arkush said. A second meeting is planned for later this year.

Mr Corbyn said he was “looking forward to continuing that dialogue”.

“I am a lifelong campaigner against racism and fascism in all forms, and I made it clear that I am utterly opposed to antisemitism in any form, including denial of the Holocaust, from any part of the political spectrum.

“The Jewish community is a vibrant and much valued part of our diverse UK society, and I will continue to defend the right to religious freedom and practice, including specifically shechitah and the brit milah, [my emphasis] Jewish faith schools, and culturally sensitive youth and social care services.

Corbyn will evidently not defend the legal right of male minors not to have their genitals mutilated on non-therapeutic grounds. There must be fewer votes in that principled and humane position.
