  1. Truly the legal system has been reduced to the level of crayons and nap times. Can we really rely on a generation of ‘Judges’ et al who think that serious crime revolves around damp clothing and hurt feelings to handle drug gangs, murders and riots? Is perhaps the British legal system being prepared for total dismantling in favour of a lower court proceeding via the tabloid press, and a higher court proceeding via secret feminist tribunal? I do wonder.

  2. I met an old lady at court once. She was waiting to deliver clothes to her 40+ year old son who was kept in a cell for 4 days over a long weekend. I watched as he was processed in court that afternoon. The account was that he, live his in partner and mother went to Arran to spread the ashes of his father. Later that same evening as emotions were high he threw an EMPTY plastic cup at his partner from across the room. He was arrested and charged for DV. First offence. The court bailed him over until at least the next court date 4 months hence. He could not approach his partner or his home in which she and their two pre school children lived. He was a car salesman. He begged to be allowed to collect his clothes and car for work. The court demanded that could only be done through negotiations via the lawyers! The court reluctantly agreed that he could live with his mother until next court date. Reluctantly because she was a witness to the incident. Don’t know how this story ended. It happened about 2009. We can all surmise what would happen if SHE threw the empty cup.
