An interesting piece which made it onto the front of today’s Daily Mail. It’s a shame, however, that Sarah Vine let herself down with comments such as this:
And when it comes to the real sexism that exists in society — the battle for equal pay, under-promotion of women and, yes, a shortage of women in laboratories — those people are less likely to get involved and lend their support.
That is not real sexism, that’s real biased unfounded speculations and a uninformed stand point. As of 2013 49.3% of Laboratory Technicians are women, so we have a so called “shortage” of .35%. They receive the same pay as men. There is no proof of under promotion.
