Proof that Gloria De Piero doesn’t care about men

Two days ago I was with Ray Barry (our candidate in Broxtowe) in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, a town in the Ashfield constituency in which I’ll be standing at the general election. I was there for a filmed interview with a major broadcaster, but took the opportunity to look at (and photograph) the numerous posters in the window of the office of Gloria De Piero, Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities.

The posters which had a gender bias were in line with what you would expect from someone with such a ludicrous job title. Herewith some incontestable facts:

Around 40% of victims of domestic abuse are men, the vast majority of them abused by women.

Approximately as many men die from prostate cancer as women die from breast cancer. The national screening programme for breast cancer costs £100 million p.a., the one for cervical cancer £150 million p.a.

There are no national screening programmes for prostate cancer, or any other male-specific cancers.

Our photographs of the posters are here and here.

Two posters related to domestic violence. One was for a helpline which only supports female victims. The second was about male perpetrators. No posters mentioned male victims or female perpetrators.

Two posters related to breast cancer, and GDP featured in one of them. No posters related to prostate cancer.

GDP only just retained the Ashfield seat for Labour in 2010, with a majority of 192 votes more than her Lib Dem challenger.

We call on the good people of Ashfield to abstain from voting for GDP on 7 May.

The more votes that J4MB receive, the louder will be the message that men and boys must no longer be treated by the state as second-class citizens.

Mike Buchanan interviewed by Jo Hayward, BBC Radio Leicester

From about two weeks ago, a piece about seven minutes long. Presenters like Jo Hayward seem incapable of engaging in rational discussions about gender-related issues. They shamelessly state there should be gender balance in the House of Commons, while not being perturbed by the shortage of women working as long-distance lorry drivers, construction workers, workers clearing multi-tonne blockages of faeces, tampons, sanitary towels, and disposable nappies in the sewage systems… no, women are not to take on ‘glass cellar’ jobs. To this day, the vast majority of applicants to become prospective parliamentary candidates (at least where anti-meritocratic all-women shortlists aren’t in place) are men. As always, when feminists demand equality / diversity, they’re demanding special treatment. A plague on all their houses, and on the houses of the idiot men (e.g. David Cameron, Vince Cable, Lord Davies of Abersoch…) who hand them what they ask for on a plate, thereby disadvantaging men as a class.

Mike Buchanan and Holly Combe (The F Word) debate sexual consent on the Stephen Nolan Show, BBC Radio 5 Live

Three weeks ago Holly Combe and I debated the vexed question of sexual consent on Stephen Nolan’s show on BBC Radio 5 Live – here. I’ve put up a short background to the piece, and recommend you read it before listening to the piece. Please leave comments on the YouTube piece rather than here. Our thanks to K for loading it onto our channel, along with another BBC radio interview we’ll be publishing in 10-15 minutes’ time.

Wanted: 18-25 year old men’s rights advocates / activists / anti-feminists (male or female)

A major broadcaster wishes to film footage next week of 18-25 year old men’s rights advocates / activists / anti-feminists, male and female, in the Nottingham area – possibly in or near Nottingham University.

Next week I’ll be meeting a group of Nottingham University students (men and women), and that discussion may be filmed. If you’d like to be added to the list of people who are willing to appear on TV supporting men’s rights and/or challenging feminism, please email me your contact details – mike@j4mb.org.uk. Thank you.

The male suicide rate in 2013 was the highest since 2001

Our thanks to J for pointing us towards a new ONS report, on people of 15 or over committing suicide in the UK in 2013.

6,233 people committed suicide in 2013.

4,858 of them were men – 78% of the total.

The male/female suicide rate differential rose again, to 3.53:1. The differential has more than doubled since 1982, when it was under 1.7:1.

Suicide remains the leading cause of men in the 20-34 age range (24% of deaths) and 35-49 (13% of deaths). The government takes no interest in the matter, other than spinning the problem as the result of mental health issues, or men not seeking help. It’s a scandal of epic proportions. And we shouldn’t forget suicide is only the tip of an iceberg of male misery, much of it the direct consequence of the state’s actions and inactions.

Why Nottingham University students need anti-feminism

I’m looking forward to meeting some students (male and female) at Nottingham University next week. Checking online, I found a link to photos taken at a Freshers’
Fair in September 2013. Students were invited to complete the sentence:

I need feminism because…

A selection from male students:

… why not?
… I shouldn’t have to explain why I need feminism
… it’s just common sense
… even girls can be boxers
… women get paid less!!
… women make great music!
… some people think I don’t – and everybody does
… women are people

A selection from female students:

… men must learn to wash up!
… I shouldn’t have to shave my legs
… because it’s great
… women should rule!!
… not only women can make a cup of tea
… it pisses me off that I have to queue for the toilet when the boys have no line
… I shouldn’t need a reason
… BOOBS

There would appear to be a deep level of ignorance among Nottingham University students that feminism is a gender supremacy ideology driven by misandry. The place badly needs a new Society to start bringing light into the darkness, and I’ll do what I can to support it.

Esther McVey MP: Girls should be encouraged to run around and climb trees to help them get better jobs when they are older

Our thanks to J for this. Esther McVey is a Conservative MP, the Minister of State for Employment. You’d think she’d have better things to do with her time than spouting nonsense of the sort you’d naturally expect from Lib Dem or Labour MPs. I can’t recall the last time a female Tory MP cited Margaret Thatcher as a role model. I’m guessing wildly she didn’t climb trees in her youth.
