Three weeks ago Holly Combe and I debated the vexed question of sexual consent on Stephen Nolan’s show on BBC Radio 5 Live – here. I’ve put up a short background to the piece, and recommend you read it before listening to the piece. Please leave comments on the YouTube piece rather than here. Our thanks to K for loading it onto our channel, along with another BBC radio interview we’ll be publishing in 10-15 minutes’ time.
Great interview, but I’ve just realised something. You could make more money than Derren Brown. This is how you do it. You introduce yourself as a fortune teller and begin with your first prediction by suggesting that the presenter will give the last word to the feminist at the end of the interview. There you go, place a bet on that one, and you’ll raise enough cash to challenge as many candidates as you can shake a stick at!
Excellent performance Mike, particularity towards the end. You managed to get all the important point in, despite being given little time to talk. To be fair, Stephen mostly did good job too and really had Holly very flustered for a good few minutes (and then lied that she had struggled to answer). It was telling that she actually came across as relatively intelligent and well spoken most of the time, more so than many of your opponents, but all her arguments completely fell apart when actually scrutinised properly and she was really squirming there.
All that was missing was to mention our medieval definition of rape which of course excludes all women from being described as such. Issues such as this and all the ones you raised are far more important than what Saunders is up to.
