6oodfella: ‘Anna Madsen’s list of female privileges’

In our general election manifesto – on page 75, to be exact – we recommend a small number of British bloggers and videomakers. One is 6oodfella, a gentleman of the Scottish persuasion. We’ve just caught one of his recent pieces. Enjoy.

About Mike Buchanan

I'm a men's human rights advocate, writer, and publisher. My primary focus is leading the political party I launched in 2013, Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them). I still work actively on two campaigns I launched in early 2012, Campaign for Merit in Business and the Anti-Feminism League. In 2014 I launched The Alternative Sexism Project, aiming to raise public understanding that the sexism faced by men and boys has far more grievous consequences than the sexism faced by women and girls.

  • Great and true comments. Anyone can see that women in our society enjoy lots of advantages over men. But it is not the nature that gave them all these options and possibilities. It is not the nature that gave them all the lenience and privileges. It is our own, gentleman based society that made this starrk imbalance possible. But is such stark contrast in fortune and treatment between the sexes fair to all citizens in a democratic country? is it just and actually good for society as a whole in the end? Almost certainly not, judging from all our social ills, economic problems, overcrowded jails and growing debts. So why is it that our women enjoy so many advantages over our men and boys? What makes it possible in this society? Because this is not the case in many other societies further afield,if you take some time to travel around this planet.
And if you think about it carefully, the super lenience and privileged treatment our women enjoy in our society has been made possible by you,the men, because you have been taught since early childhood to treat girls and women in a better way than to treat your fellow boys and later men.
But what happens when you start applying this special, preferential treatment for women even in the worplace or ,in the court of law? What happens is that comanies become inefficient as they are forced to employ more women, often less qualified, who take lots more sick leave than their male counterparts (50% more on average),families break down as a result of mothers getting all the rights and privileges over fathers in court, and much more. This is the final impact on men’s lives and society as a whole because you,the men, have been taught and now believe that you should always show lenience, preference and greater respect towards women for no other reason that they are women.
If you want to continue to believe this lullabay,go ahead. But the job you may lose, the family and kids you may lose as a result may be your own. The choice is yours. But then when you see you have become a second class citizen because of your gentlemanly beliefs,do not complain.
The only way to change the present status quo is to stop extending any preferential treatment for women and start demanding that they be measured by the same yardstick as you,in every way.
Because that’s what true justice and democracy are all about.
