Appalling. The doctor even failed to gain proper consent to undertake the procedure on a five-week-old boy. His actions were held to amount to ‘misconduct’. Might the media interest have been higher if he’d illegally circumcised 41 girls in a ‘non-sterile’ clinic?
I’m a little confused by this. Jewish mohels are not medically trained and carry out circumcisions without any infection control (i.e., in the home). Do they get special dispensation in law? Or can anyone genitally mutilate a child as long as it’s a boy?

I’d say that any child can be horrifically mutilated as long as they have a penis. Well, until the public at large catch wind of the whole affair. Then wrists get slapped.
