The figures on early retirement and setting up as self employed are interesting. Even here one finds women generally much more likely to retire early (even though of course men would be 5 years “early” even matching the current female retirement age). And if self employed, being so at less than full time. Generally yet more choices( like maternity leave or post maternity part time family friendly hours). All choices frequently possible because their partner is working full time, otherwise the choice could not be made.
