Female perpetrators of intimate partner violence

Ally Fogg earlier today published an interesting piece following the report of Jay-Z being attacked in a lift by his sister-in-law, while his wife, Beyoncé, looked on:

http://freethoughtblogs.com/hetpat/2014/05/14/solange-jay-z-and-our-problem-with-female-violence

I posted a comment (#2) making the point that in most cases of unreciprocated domestic violence women are the perpetrators, and that the rate of DV among lesbian couples is particularly high. A commenter has challenged me to provide citations to back up these claims, or to ‘GTFO’. The first citation is contained in a presentation created by Dr Nicola Graham-Kevan of the University of Central Lancashire, and given to last year’s Mankind Initiative conference on male victims of domestic violence. It’s on page 7:

140514 Mankind Conference Slough 2013, Female Perpetrators of Intimate Partner Violence

The second citation – showing that 12.4% of lesbians report being the victims of DV, compared with 4.3% of heterosexual women – is a British Crime Survey report, which can be found on page 8 (point #14) of our public consultation document:

New ‘Whiny Woman of the Month’ – Professor Jennifer Coates

Our thanks to a longstanding supporter, Doris, for suggesting a new ‘Whiny Woman of the Month’ award winner, Professor Jennifer Coates.

Decade after decade the proportion of teachers who are women has risen, and standards in the state education system have slumped, hidden only by relentless ‘grade inflation’. Between 1970 and 2010 the proportion of primary school teachers who are women rose from 77.4% to 87.4%. Over the same period the proportion in secondary schools rose from 45.4% to 62.3%. We published an article on the feminisation of the education system (and the NHS), scroll down to the one dated 4 October 2013 accessible through this link:

http://www.avoiceformen.com/author/mikebuchanan1957/

When the majority of teachers were men, there was no need for ‘teaching assistants’ because the men were more capable of maintaining discipline. As in other areas run by the state – the NHS is an obvious example – the result has been lower standards delivered at higher cost to taxpayers. The state education system fails boys so badly that today only 40% of university students are male. There’s a lot to complain about in the state education system. So what does a professor at the University of Roehampton complain about?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-27403902

From the article:

Professor Jennifer Coates, emeritus professor of English language and linguistics at the University of Roehampton, said she had been surprised by the different titles given to male and female teachers.

“I didn’t think there was this awful disparity between professorial status and these young teachers, but they’re all Sir and I’m not. It’s a depressing example of how women are given low status and men, no matter how young or new in the job they are, are given high status.”

No, what ‘it’s a depressing example of…’ is a woman whining about something of not the slightest consequence. Professor Coates is a worthy winner of this month’s ‘Whiny Woman of the Month’ award. Her award certificate:

Female privilege #41: men aren’t allowed to fight back

I try to avoid anything relating to celebrity ‘culture’ wherever possible, but I couldn’t avoid learning that in the United States there’s been some unpleasantness between Jay Zed, a popular ‘rap artist’ – whatever that term means, I’m more of a Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Led Zeppelin and Bjork fan – and his sister-in-law. Jay Zed’s wife Bea Yonsay is also well-known, it would seem. The unpleasantness took place in a lift, of all places. What dark times we live in.

Ordinarily, I wouldn’t have considered linking to such a story in a month of Sundays, but one of our favourite Honey Badgers – Janet Bloomfield (‘JudgyBitch’) – has penned a piece on the story, which is (of course) well worth reading. Take it away, JB:

More feminist propaganda from the BBC – Kirsty Wark’s ‘Blurred Lines: The New Battle of the Sexes’

[Note added 22.5.14: This piece has just been published on A Voice for Men http://avoiceformen.com, the most-visited and most influential men’s human rights advocacy website in the world, with good reason:

More feminist propaganda from the BBC – Kirsty Wark’s ‘Blurred Lines: The New Battle of the Sexes’

The comment streams following pieces published on AVfM are always worth catching.]

The BBC recently reached a new low in documentary making. Look for the file dated 8 May 2014 in the J4MB YouTube channel:

http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKhX1c3ow6BrzdzP3ydpeZQ/videos

Kirsty Wark – a relentlessly feminist presenter on Newsnight and elsewhere – presented a fictional world in which misandry doesn’t exist, only women suffer from sexism, and more. It was, in short, a deeply sexist programme. Wark interviewed vile women such as Germaine Greer and Laurie Penny and appeared utterly in awe of them, whatever garbage they spouted. Can you imagine such airtime being given by the BBC – or indeed any mainstream television or radio channel in the world – to the issues facing men and boys, which are leading to such poor life outcomes for many? Nor can we.

At 00:43 – 00:58 Wark utters this priceless remark, setting the tone for the hour-long stream of feminist propaganda which follows:

Is there a new culture in which men – and it IS mainly men – seem to think they have the freedom and the right to speak about, write about, and portray women in a derogatory – even abusive – way?

As a statement of female supremacy, that takes some beating. Heaven forbid that men even think they have the freedom or right to hold women accountable for their actions and inactions. The following is a selection of some of the lowlights and highlights. Rod Liddle, a Spectator columnist, made some very sound points, as did an Australian stand-up comedian, Brendon Burns.

1:37 – 1:58 An early contribution by a hatchet-faced ‘journalist’, Laurie Penny.

1:59 – 2:21 Rod Liddle talks sense.

14:00 – 16:07 Sexism in comedy.

16:08 – 18:34 Brendon Burns.

26:12 – 27:50 Women in public life, Twitter threats, blah, blah, blah…

27:48 – 29:34 Rod Liddle speaks of receiving a message in which the sender hoped he’d die of cancer, and another message saying he looked like ‘a drug-addled middle-aged lesbian’. Instead of offering sympathy to Liddle, Wark replies with ‘That’s quite insulting to lesbians!’ and Liddle good-naturedly agreed.

29:35 – 31:57 All feminist ‘documentaries’ must feature at least one hatchet-faced academic. This time we’re treated to Dr Claire Hardaker, a linguist at Lancaster University. Not someone you’d imagine going to comedy clubs on a regular basis.

31:58 – 32:50 Rod Liddle talks sense.

32:51 – 35:28 Laurie Penny witters on about ‘geek culture’, ‘geek misogyny’, ‘nerd culture’…

40:34 – 42:37 Anita Sarkeesian talks nonsense. Anyone wanting to find out the truth about this woman should check out these links:

http://www.avoiceformen.com/feminism/feminist-corruption/anita-sarkeesian-steals-intellectual-property-sells-it-then-ignores-demands-of-victim

43:14 – 45:48 Germaine Greer talks utter nonsense. What are the chances?

54:58 – 55:30 Ditto.

55:31 – 56:06 Laurie Penny drones on. This section lasts only 35 seconds but feels much longer.

56:29 – 56:54 A clip from a video produced by Australian students, which Wark judges ‘witty’. In the clip the (female) students refer to emasculating and castrating men. Presumably Wark would find a video produced by male students – and referring to female genital mutilation – less ‘witty’?

If anyone at the BBC has the slightest interest in the sexism faced by men, and misandry – although from the evidence to date, nobody at the BBC does – (s)he could start researching with a visit to one of our associated sites, The Alternative Sexism Project:

Thieving GP stole £130 from mother of sick baby: Family doctor faces being struck off after patient caught her rifling through handbag after she left consulting room

On average GPs earn about £104,000 p.a., and the GP service has never been worse. Clearly £104,000 p.a. isn’t enough for some of them:

Women in the US military

Our thanks to M for this interesting piece:

http://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2011/12/22/women-in-the-u-s-military-growing-share-distinctive-profile

Key points:

1. Between 1973 and 2010 the enlisted force declined by 738,000, while the number of women increased from 42,000 to 176,000.

[The same direction of travel we always see with taxpayer-funded employment.]

2. Among living veterans from any era only 15% of the women served in combat, compared with 35% of men.

[We assume that ‘in combat’ has a wider definition than ‘engaged in front-line action, because such a small proportion of soldiers returning home dead or disabled are women.]

3. 17% of the women are commissioned officers, compared with 15% of the men.

4. Since 1973 the proportion of women in the enlisted ranks has increased from 2% to 14%, and among commissioned officers from 4% to 16%.

Mark Brooks talks about male victims of domestic violence on Channel 5 Live

Mark Brooks, chairman of Mankind Initiative, made a solid contribution to last Friday’s lengthy (48 minute long) – more importantly, interesting and compassionate – piece on a BBC Radio 5 Live piece about male victims of domestic violence. We invite you to leave comments on the piece on our YouTube channel (link below) rather than here – look for the file dated 9 May 2014. Below the video you’ll see a time breakdown of the various elements in the programme.

Beat yo-yo dieting for ever – by tapping on your face: It sounds too good to be true. But could this be the simplest weight-loss regime yet?

Assuming Jessica Ortner’s new book Tapping for Weight Loss becomes the bestseller it surely deserves to be, in a couple of years’ time there won’t be any fat women around:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2625779/Beat-yo-yo-dieting-tapping-face-It-sounds-good-true-But-simplest-weight-loss-regime-yet.html

The technique has evidently been successful for the blonde lady whose photograph appears in the piece. It’s time for me to contact major international publishers for the book I completed only this morning, Lifting Your Left Leg a Bit for Weight Loss. I anticipate a fierce competition for the publishing rights, and I’ll start the bidding at £1,000,000.
