Australian radio host Marty Sheargold loses job over offensive women’s football remarks

Our thanks to Oz for this. An extract:

“An Australian radio presenter has left the network after comments he made about the country’s women’s football team – which have been branded as misogynist and disrespectful.

Marty Sheargold said on nationwide radio station Triple M that the Matildas players reminded him of “year 10 girls” and implied that their matches were boring.” [J4MB: ALL women’s soccer matches are boring.]

[End of extract.]

The Australian women’s soccer team is The Matildas. In 2016 – as the fifth highest-ranked women’s soccer team in the world – they lost 7-0 to a team of under-16s schoolboys, details here.

Lisa Jeanine Findley pleads guilty in scheme to steal Graceland

Our thanks to Jeff for this. An extract:

“Carballo met Findley in Branson, Missouri, where she moved in 2023 after having lived in Oklahoma, Las Vegas and California. By then, she had a long record of romance scams, forged checks and bank fraud totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. She did time in federal prison for taking out false loans and was sent back after she violated terms of her release with more swindles, then hit the road, following a trail of lovers whom she met on internet dating sites and cheated out of money, according to court records.”

So the prosecution in the new case are seeking the maximum punishment for the new crime, right? Wrong. Another extract:

“Lisa Jeanine Findley pleaded guilty in federal court in Memphis, Tennessee, to a single count of mail fraud that carries a maximum of 20 years in prison. Prosecutors have recommended a sentence of up to four years and nine months behind bars.”

Unherd removes Mike Buchanan’s comments on an article lauding Andrea Dworkin

Most of the followers of this website will be aware that the radical feminist Andrea Dworkin (1946-2005) was insane, in common with so many (most?) radical feminists. Unherd today posted a ludicrous article by their feminist columnist (one of many, including Julie Bindel) Poppy Sowerby, titled Andrea Dworkin was right about men: The radical feminist is having a renaissance. Sowerby describes herself on her X page as “prolific and excellent”. I commented on her article as follows:

“Dworkin was insane, as so many radical feminists have been / are (Kate Millett and Valerie Solanas come inevitably to mind). It helps explain their appeal to so many women with mental health issues. It says something about the insane world we live in that Dworkin’s books are still in print and selling, likewise many other feminists’ books including Solanas’s “SCUM manifesto”. She shot and nearly killed Andy Warhol.

Another sign of the insane world we live in, Esther Vilar’s outstanding (and hilarious) “The Manipulated Man” (1971) was pulled as an English-language book by Amazon in 2021, on its 50th anniversary. It’s still available elsewhere, though. Thoroughly recommended for sane men and women everywhere.

Ofcom calls on tech firms to make online world safer for women and girls – consultation

It hopefully doesn’t need me to point out to followers of this website that the Office of Communications, Ofcom, is a deeply ‘progressive’ organisation. Its lack of challenging of progressive media outlets (most notably the BBC) is shameful, as have been its attacks on GB News.

My thanks to M for pointing to a document published by Ofcom today, Ofcom calls on tech firms to make online world safer for women and girls. Ofcom also published the related Consultation on draft Guidance: A safer life online for women and girls. The document titles alone surely tell us that feminists are behind all this, and one of their objectives is to silence those speaking up for males and challenging feminism and feminists.

Our experience since 2012 – along with the experience of many other MRAs – has been that engaging in government consultation exercises is an exercise in utter futility. MRA submissions are published online along with other submissions but thay have precisely no impact on government policies and actions. This was true under Conservative governments and will be no less true under the current Labour government.

We invite anyone with a more optimistic view about the potential impact of engaging with the Ofcom consultation to share their submissions with us, we shall happily publish them on this website. The consultation closes 23 May, 2025.
