The phrase ‘national change’ worries me, cranky old cynic that I am. Apart from that, this is a much needed petition . Even if accomplishes nothing, it’s a contribution to getting the message out. I’ve added my name to the petition.

In a world where there is such stuff couched as “equality” https://inews.co.uk/inews-lifestyle/money/ruth-davidson-size-mums-state-pension-shocked-4849355 Of course she leaves out that for a long time that pensions for married couples were treated as it a “unit” (as was tax) so a couple wasn’t treated as if two entirely separate individuals. And of course there was until very recently the 5 year advantage to women in getting their pension at 60. Which of course meant that, particularly when the pension changed from “married couples” to purely individual, women had 5 extra years of pension even before their additional 5 years of pension due to longevity! For any contributary pension (and in theory NI is the contribution for the “state” pension. Women should be paying more than men to build up the funds for their additional 5 or 10 additional years of pension income. One only has to see the WASPI women complaining about the equalisation of pension age to see how equality goes out when money is concerned. Given the actuarial data women should be thanking men for their greater contributions which in effect subsidise their equal income. Thank you blokes for paying into a scheme that we women gain far more benefit from. You’re welcome the Minister for men might say.
