A piece published by the Telegraph a few hours ago. The start of the piece:

“A mistrial has been declared in the case of a mother accused of murdering her three children after the jury failed to reach a verdict.

Lindsay Clancy, 36, is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the death of her children – Cora Clancy, 5, Dawson Clancy, 3, and 8-month-old Callan Clancy.

In the nearly six-week-long televised case that gripped the US, Judge William Sullivan was forced to declare a mistrial after the jury became deadlocked.

Ms Clancy did not deny strangling her children with exercise bands at her Massachusetts home in January 2023 but claimed overmedication caused postpartum psychosis.

Eleven of the 12-person jury, made up of nine women and three men, found Ms Clancy not guilty. But a lone male juror held out. [J4MB emphasis.]

In a note, the jury told Judge Sullivan: “It is with heavy heart we are still unable to come to a decision and will not be able to.”

Under Massachusetts law, a verdict must be unanimous and cannot be decided by a majority vote.”
