Our thanks to Gerry for this (video, 0:42). The meaning of the piece will be clear to admirers of modern art. The goose-stepping obviously evokes the Nazis, which suggests a statement on fascism. “Bucket” rhymes with “f*** it”, “rope” rhymes with “hope”. The three things combine to make Cook’s insightful critique of fascism, which goes some way to explaining why she wins awards.
“Bucket” is a word often employed by writers of the limerick, an example being this (one of several) on Wikipedia, about the American island of Nantucket:
There once was a man from Nantucket
Who kept all his cash in a bucket.
But his daughter, named Nan,
Ran away with a man
And as for the bucket, Nantucket.
