The goose-stepping obviously evokes the Nazis, which suggests a statement on fascism. “Bucket” rhymes with “f*** it”, “rope” rhymes with “hope”. The three things combine to make Cook’s insightful critique of fascism, which goes some way to explaining why she wins awards.
“Bucket” is a word often employed by writers of the limerick, an example being this (one of several) on Wikipedia, about the American island of Nantucket:
There once was a man from Nantucket
Who kept all his cash in a bucket.
But his daughter, named Nan,
Ran away with a man
And as for the bucket, Nantucket.

Dear Mike, This reminds me of a joke my late brother once made about modern art and the lack of effort put into the product. He was surprised that no one had done something like smash two empty cans of lager together and say what a profound statement that makes.
