“”very strong personal mitigation” and the uncertainty surrounding the care of her baby son, for whom she is the primary carer. ” Noted in the Independent, which describes her as “vulnerable”, in fact not so vulnerable as her prisoner boyfriend’s parents bought her a Car! I suppose the strong personal mitigation consisted of being a young attractive woman, with a baby. What seems to get totally bypassed in these cases as that the “power” is in the hands of the woman who literally has the keys to a man theoretically deprived of liberty. Somehow a male Prison officer in the similar position would not have so lenient treatment.

Thanks Nigel. One never hears of male prison officers having relationships with female prisoners, doubtless female prisons don’t have male prison officers.
