Just to be clear the knife used was not the “ceremonial” knife Sikhs are allowed to have on their person. But a much bigger blade the murderer had in addition! He was clearly out to threaten. In a way the most important part of this statement is the effect of lowering recruitment, promotion and training standards in pursuit of DEI objectives. For in watering these down to play the gender and race game they are watered down for everyone. This process began way back in the late 80s and now is well entrenched. Hence we get small often unfit officers with little knowledge of the law arresting people for things that aren’t crimes. Particularly damaging had been the progressive watering down of the Sergeant’s exams because this rank often made the actual decisions about arrests at the station. From the point of view of legality.
l personally find Sikhs in general to be good patriotic citizens and appalled at this. The fault is in the DEI that has infected institutions that should act “without fear or favour”.
