Christopher Trybus found not guilty of rape and manslaughter after wife Tarryn Baird took her own life in 2017

Our thanks to Steve for this. As he says, this trial shouldn’t even have taken place. It’s an indicator of how anti-male the CPS is, that it did.

  1. I’m sure the feeling is genuine but Mr. Trybus’ lawyer is wise that he included a statement about domestic abuse. I’ve noticed over the years that this sort of thing is pretty much obligatory so as not to suggest the acquitted in anyway doubted the veracity of the wider narrative on DV, Sexual assault or harassment. Whatever the accusations were. I recall feeling really sorry for Andrew Malkinson as media sympathies waned. I’m sure be sure he committed the “sin” of being very angry in interview after interview. Entirely understandable given his wrecked life having been identified by the complainant and fitted up by the Police and serving his best years in prison. However of course men are held to a very different standard. Their anger is ugly and even a hint it might be directed at a damsel or damsels in general trips a wire into “toxic”. While of course women are encouraged to repeat their accusations even if the man is acquitted by a Jury. No need to adhere to dignified statements and expressed restraint.

I have a feminist training course to thank for this. Looking closely at how men and women are treated in the media. Now of course if you look at women you do indeed see stereotypes etc. But of course if you look at men you find stereotypes etc too. And if you simply reverse the sexes I’m a thought experiment it is often very revealing indeed.
