The truth is we have created a society where it is acceptable to declare we’ll do nothing to improve the education of boys because we want to handicap them in the employment market, this was what Mary Curnock-Cook (then head of UCAS) found when she repeatedly raised this . It is no accident that it is precisely those groups in society Chinese etc. which maintain traditional cultures that completely buck this trend. And those most “fatherless” poor white and afro Caribbean which languish at the bottom. For without stable homes and secure role models such boys have only school as some sort of stability and if all it has to offer is the assumption they are toxic and need to be hobbled …. well the’re going to look for answers to the many questions of adolescence and adult identity elsewhere. Fortunately for us all they will mainly find stuff offering variations of traditional values like “tidy your room”, “positive mental attitude” etc.

The hoo ha about the internet is yet another distraction from the reality, that the determination to eradicate the supposedly oppressive “patriarchal” family structure through public policy most affects those most dependent on public institutions, and has had considerable success. Where it hasn’t succeeded, middle class, strong family oriented cultures in ethnic minorities often very “traditional” their is a complete contrast. The casualties of “luxury beliefs” are those already struggling.
The obvious thing would be to promote what we know works, strong family structures and clear positive role models. Instead we get a moral panic.

Actually this is a good example of the misandrists’ determined only to see hate. The recent much lauded BBC series based on Lord of the Flies. Of course toxic boys reproduce the horrors of war and oppression if left their own devices. Well yes they do in the imagination of a misanthropic novelist, and we lap it up. It ended with the men, after some norming and storming, collecting water,housing, cooking, foraging, washing themselves with the perpetually “in” fire. While the producers had to rescue the women .. who for instance complained no one has made them a fire!
