  1. well he now has a female Cabinet Secretary. This will help him with the labour “wimmin” and have the virtue of making criticism weaker because we’re told it’s “misogyny” to criticise females no matter how powerful and responsible they are. But of course she’s also much harder to get rid of should Starmer need a scapegoat (a requirement he often has) because that also would be “misogyny”. Rachel Reeves led the way, followed by every female minister, in claiming criticism of her or her dept. is misogyny. In a way the political example of the “scholarly harassment” Nuzzo writes about. Which of course means ignoring the fact male politicians have field criticism, opposition, even abuse and get sacked all the time. I remember there being an inquiry into “on line abuse” of parliamentarians. At the time way out ahead in volume of abuse received was Boris Johnson, followed by other male politicians with Theresa May (then PM) the most abused woman coming in at number 7. Needless to say all the media and political attention was on the women as if the abuse of men was non existent.
