  1. This is very interesting https://ofboysandmen.substack.com/p/look-to-norway? The report itself is full of data and makes important points about the differences between men. Particularly that the fact some men are at the top of social hierarchies this doesn’t mean other men are privileged at all. As with much produced in Scandinavia the report and information is available in English. If nothing else the data rich report is a resource where in other countries (such as the UK) there is a tendency to ignore if not suppress data on sex or gender if it isn’t female focussed.     Of course the overall context is within the feminist agenda familiar across Scandinavia however it is a resource for data and a reference point for those still trying to get Government (as here in the UK) to recognise that their are men’s issues at all! https://mannsutvalget.no/information-in-english/

    And of course given the left elite in Western Europe, which control our major institutions, are still enamored of the so called “Scandinavian Model” it is a useful resource to quote. In much the same was as our Labour Home Secretary is visibly relieved she can refer to Denmark and Danish policies on controlling immigration to persuade her own Party to support controls.

  2. She’s right some of the “effects” are subtle. I saw the corrosive effects of the implementation of “flexibility” and “family friendly” policies. Policies initially to help mothers and then “carers” get stretched and stretched as they get claimed for all manner of things , examples “having to have” Fridays to visit her boyfriend who lived in london (she in Manchester) wednesday afternoons every two weeks “to have my roots done”, leaving early Thursdays because the person doing her nails won’t open late. All sorts of things very far from the intention. Seeing this of course then others think “fuck it, why do i stay late to get things finished?” and so taking the dog for its trim, leaving early to shop with mother, days off or “working from home” to wait for deliveries, all sorts of things become the “norm”. Until in reality services only operated Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays at anything like capacity and demanding “four day weeks” become seen as reasonable. Its this process that then even effects the dedicated and senior people who start to wonder why they “cover” and work late an turn up every day. They too start to think “fuck it”. Thus public services enthusiastically WFH (lets be hones doing less work) and reduce their “days” after the Pandemic. In short the process of increasing “flexibility” to help women gradually becomes a culture of working when and how it suits you, not your employer and definitely not your “customers” .
