God Bless the NCFM!! They have refused to give up this fight and have spent huge amounts of money and effort to overturn this horrible, sexist situation!! And there is HUGE opposition to this from so many groups!! Godspeed to the NCFM!!

Important because such legal cases, though they may be unsuccessful in themselves they are opportunities to make visible the convoluted and contradictory nature of such things. Now of course we know in the real world it is the men who’ll have to fight and die. And even in Sweden and Denmark with “equal” national service it is overwhelmingly the male candidates who are assessed as “suitable” for military service (not dissimilar from the actual allocation in the Israeli IDF)
This, like the cases and debates about “women’s spaces”, women’s sports, women’s categories in Movies, music and literature awards it all keeps constantly in sight the reality that the majority actually experience.. that there are sex differences and these are integral to society. In the grinding wars in Ukraine or central Africa no one entertains “equality”. Fortunately for “the west” such harsh choices seem far far distant. But this allows the fantasies to be repeated. However ludicrous the “TERF” wars or arcane the legal processes (e.g. getting a Supreme Court to say “Sex” means sex) may seem, they keep repeating the reality in a western world used to peace and prosperity.
