A tragic tale in The Guardian, Hampshire mother Alice Mackey, 42, jailed after drowning two-year-old during period of psychosis. Unusually for a MSM article, the piece acknowledges the father’s suffering:
“In a victim personal statement, Annabel’s father said he was tormented by the idea of his daughter suffering and felt guilt he had not been there to protect her. He described the moment her life support was turned off and how he had touched her face as she lay at the funeral director’s.
He said he still told Annabel to sleep well every night but said her future – her first day at school, falling in love, having children of her own – had been “stolen”.”

I think this hits a bit “close to the bone ” for me with my own daughter
for the father I have absolute sympathy for him, but I guess none of us will ever truly feel what he went through
It bothers me that the postpartum psychosis is being used as somewhat of an excuse for what was done because I suspect my ex will use the same excuse for what she did to our own child. I would have thought that the state should be held accountable for murder for failing the safeguarding issue for Annabel Mackey
.. and what does the legal system, the govt say in response “oh well , lessons were learnt”, “there are no winners”…
… and you wonder why some men dont want to get married and have a family….
