I doubt anybody in the company has the least notion of life on tea plantations. Malnutrition, poor housing, poor medical care, extreme poverty of older people no longer able to work, exposure to chemicals …… and even guerrilla war and drugs gangs in some provinces. This will be simply advertising “virtue signalling” garnering sympathy for the demographic culturally most likely to we’re sympathise with on an issue guaranteed to get positive reaction in the wealthy west. In short a bit of gynocentric virtue signalling to boost sales.

Thanks Nigel. And of course women make most of the grocery (and other) buying decisions, hence why Typhoo (and others) pander to them.
“In short a bit of gynocentric virtue signalling to boost sales.” Spot on, hence the boycott.

Typhoo(n) in a teacup. The slogan “The refreshingly bold brew” should be enough to put off any tea aficionado. Call me a communist if you must, but I’m glad to hear that they’ve decided to stop whipping, beating and summarily executing their tea pickers. What an enlightened age we live in!

On the topic of bonkers feminist virtue signalling Labour splurge £4m in taxpayers’ cash on ‘gender equal’ tree scheme more than 4,000 miles away I’m sure the good folk of Wales applaud their Politian’s keen interest in Climate change and Gender Equality in Uganda ????? Though I can see at least a semblance of sense in planting carbon absorbing trees if you believe this will impact the climate, though logic suggests the Wales Assembly should do this in Wales. More obscure is just how this gift to Uganda advances Gender Equality in that country. Are the trees planted by women and girls? I’m willing to bet not.
