The next hard fought battle will be “terms of reference (TOR)” and “Chair”. After all the existing limited national review by Alexis Jay (2022) was limited to looking at 6 areas which were chosen because they had no “Asian grooming gang” cases by its TOR while the report claimed there was no reliable data on ethnicity elsewhere. Interesting how this report, till today, was the Government’s last word on the topic. Expect long delays, clever sophistry in the TOR and a suitably friendly (to the labour Party) Chair. A long way to go yet.
The Casey report is here National Audit on Group-based Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse The section 2 a timeline of cases and reports is a demonstration of the power of the political and social elite to suppress and “hide” something while in fact there is abundant evidence from all sorts of official sources. It is a lesson in the power to do so. And paralleled by the decades long concealment of the truth of Domestic Abuse.
