  1. Of course the Police man in the clip would have been in for it if he’d suggested he had a go, sexism, or “misogyny” as its now labelled, to suggest the females needed help from a man. On the broader front the problem runs very deep now because for decades now the Police have had to reduce or abandon standards of size, strength and fitness, because under the Equality Act they cannot apply higher standards to men than apply to women. With the result that the “force” is now a “service” (most having abandoned the word force) and male officers are quite as likely to be unfit etc. In the case of two close friends in the latter part of their career one symptom of this was dependence on “Tactical Units” otherwise known as a van of “the gorillas”, big tough Officers (male of course) called in when things got “tasty”. The problem with this was highlighted in the 2011 “Riots”. Where the looters merely had to organise (through social media) multiple “riots” within a Police “service’s” area knowing that the tactical units (two vans worth) could only turn up to one! In my case this meant while a “riot” was going on in central Manchester’s shopping area I could watch the same at Salford’s Shopping City, the looting unencumbered by the Police (who merely advised us to stay in our building while the looting carried on). This in GMPs area the second largest “service” in the UK.

So whereas when my friends joined and were young Policemen all had regular training in riot control (and practiced some of it on me!) latterly the “force” bit of the service relied on an ever dwindling number of “big lads” in the force.

Of course the other symptom of this has been the growth in the use of body armour, sprays and “tazers” etc. because there is little “deterrence” in small tubby “officers” faced with the majority of their “cutomers” young men!
