Common words on job adverts that women think are intimidating and too masculine

Our thanks to Jeff for this (Mail, £). The article is written by two female “journalists” and cites “studies” by female “researchers”. Stereotypically masculine words and terms which allegedly intimidate women and disincline them from replying to job adverts include ambition, drive, entrepreneurial spirit, adventurousness, assertiveness, outspokenness and self-reliance. I think the lesson to be taken from this is clear. Employers should include as many of these terms as possible in job adverts.

  1. What is remarkable is that is reflects so poorly on women. To suggest these are not qualities they have or consider important. What employer would want such shrinking violets with no resilience or ambition? But I suppose the consequence would simply be the business loses. Rather more serious is where ideas of pushing forward unsuitable people for a DEI quota actually undermines our defence and risks lives. Such as in our Marines https://youtu.be/T8o2LcVfego?si=p9RstoHgyNjM6YkL A brave marine standing up for our nations protection and the lives of his comrades. Is it any wonder our economy flounders and our PM is taken as a joke as he promises “troops” for his foreign policy posturing. While its vital to our prosperity that we have companies that are ambitious and competative it is also vital that our forces are capable and effective to deter aggression.
