‘We need more men to be teachers’, Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson says, with boys’ behaviour ‘the defining issue of our time’

Our thanks to Nigel for this. He writes:

After all the years of evidence of “man deserts”, chaotic families and single parent families being linked to gangs, knife crime, crime in general and the disintegration of life in “sink estates”, suddenly following a drama on TV – Adolescence – a feminist Labour minister thinks boys should have male role models at school and “at home”. “But only one in four of the teachers in our schools are men. Just one in seven in nursery and primary. One in 33 in early years. And since 2010 the number of teachers in our schools has increased by 28,000 – but just 533 of those are men. That’s extraordinary.”

Well, yes, indeed it’s extraordinary, but who has been crowing for years about all those “amazing women”? Which group thinks its just fine that thousands of boys fail in school because in later life a few become CEOS? And which party has led the charge against the “oppressive” traditional family, excluding fathers whenever possible? And now they want male role models? I expect no apologies for decades of feminism.
