Rupert Lowe is an independent MP, until recently with Reform UK. Yesterday his article was published in the Telegraph (£), Why I’m crowdfunding a proper inquiry into the rape gang horror. The crowdfunder started three days ago with an initial target of £100,000, and has just passed £433,000.

  1. While the “elite” distract us with a “completely fictional story” and a curiously traditional baddy, a big dark man (and his brother) sexual predators rather like the targets of the lynchings in the deep south. This is a practical action to actually address a very real problem. One in which victims are “overwhelmingly female” (of course the boys and young men don’t get much of a mention. So rather than rehearsing the perils of “Hip Hop”, “Rap” and Eminem who supposedly would pervert while boys into murdering misogynists, a previous version of the parade of examples of moral panics about “influencers”. Actually attending to the large scale importation of people from cultures whose austere strictly sex segregated culture has long tolerated victimisation outsiders (castes and lesser tribes and other religions) and which lies behind the simple fact that a huge proportion of sexual criminals are either not British citizens or not British born. It is in these statistics, rather than the imaginings of TV drama, that are to be found the real issues to be addressed to reduce sexual assaults.
