Brad Burton and Sam Wall met for 30 seconds – she then stalked him for four years

Our thanks to Jeff for this. The judge is evidently a comedian:

“Her sentencing was delayed for a second time last week, but the judge told her to expect a prison sentence.”

  1. In most years there are slightly more cases of females stalking males than vice versa. Which shouldn’t surprise as we know young women can easily be fixated on famous stars and those they believe they ” lurve”. This equality in prosecutions has always surprised me given the cultural propensity to excuse female behaviour. It leads me to believe that in fact the actual incidence will be much higher for female perpetration, with a proportion of their male victims believing it unmanly to admit to being perturbed by such stuff and of course police believing that men should “man up” rather than report some poor besotted young woman.

    • Nigel, I’m sure you’re right. That phenomenon surely also explains why so few men go to the police after sexual abuse by women, which we know from CDC surveys are far more common than prosecutions of women would suggest to be the case. Plenty on this in our last manifesto.

  2. Mr Burton says he forgives her. “I hope she gets the help that she needs and she finds peace in her own life,”

I’ve seen this sort of response from male victims before in cases reported locally. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this of a female victim. Are men altruistic? Benignly sexist? Believe they have to sound sympathetic to a woman? Genuinely believe women who offend are mentally ill? Or maybe think this makes them less of a “victim”? It happens so often it must be more coincidence.
