  1. An oh so boring story. Women put off cycling by safety fears and intimidating drivers, study finds – Manchester Evening News Appearing in many outlets this is just so typical. Men it seems recognise that conditions for cyclists have improved. While women have not changed their reluctance. Out comes the “gap”. But the truth is probably that no matter what is done women will remain reluctant and not shift their views, because its a set of feelings rather than an actual analysis of conditions. As with so many things chasing these feelings the authorities will never narrow the gap, even if they came up with women only cycle lanes! One of the endless series of chasing “gaps” when the truth is women are generally more risk averse.
