  1. I am of mixed opinion on this
    – I suspect that this situation has occurred because of the anti gun lobby that wanted to punish the parents or anyone who has a gun( we all know guns are a sensitive topic in the US). They can’t really punish the shooter any more than they have done because of his mental health issues.
    – to blame the parents for not getting him medical help for his mental health issues is a little too easy, as we do not know the full story, whether they attempted, if they could afford it( we all know medical costs are a major issue in the US), or even that the system would help because unfortunately the system is too heavily focused on providing help based on protected characteristics. We all know that young men are getting the least amount of support in society. there will be more of these incidents, sadly since men ( especially young men) are getting castigated for simply being men
    – I’m placing a bet that the father will get a much higher level of sentencing.
    – would be interested in whether the legal system will now prosecute mothers who murder their children (I’m not talking about abortion) instead of making them the “victim”
    – I predict a raft of hit piece articles referring to Ethan as an incel followed by more pearl clutching about how incels are the new domestic terrorists!
