Jonathan Hawker, maths teacher at Devonport High School for Girls in Plymouth, wins £45,000 after being sacked over ‘playground plot when pupils made up lies about him assaulting them because it was fun’

Our thanks to Jim for this. He writes:

Eight girls lie about sexual assault by male Maths teacher at all-girls grammar school.
School performs half-baked “investigation”.
Head of Safeguarding, Ruth Morgan, decides he’s guilty.
She ignores exculpatory evidence from older girls who knew it was all made up.

Male maths teacher suspended, arrested by police.
Male Maths teacher fired for “gross misconduct”.
Girls later said they made it up ‘for fun’.

Girls like this who lie for fun have always existed and will always exist. This won’t change. However, female safeguarding staff such as Ruth Morgan who presume men are guilty and do not afford due process to male employees should be given the same treatment – sacked, arrested and humiliated.  Reputation destroyed (‘where there’s smoke there’s fire’). Possibly suicidal.

£45,000 is a slap in the face for this man.  Should have been ten times that amount.
And the Department for Education wonders why this country has a maths problem.
It’s only going to get worse.
