  1. One of my favorite books we “did” at school was To Kill a Mocking Bird. In it a man is falsely accused by a woman of rape. And he is convicted despite there being no actual evidence. The book reflects the reality of the period except in one sense, few of the accused men actually had a trial. In researching about the book some years ago I came across a listing of all the known hangings, burnings and beatings etc. 80% of which were punishment based on an accusation of rape, sexual assault or even leering or staring, at women. All based on the lie that all men, of a certain “color”, were universally sexual predators and consequently one could “believe women”. Fast forward to today and in effect we have the same situation all men are presumed sexual predators and domestic abusers , automatically assumed to be be guilty. And because the courts still have some semblance of due process there are an increasing array of “mobbing” through social media and a growing number of civil “orders” , administrative practices and company policies (eg the recent issue about Banks highlighted by Bettina Ardnt) that punish without the need for actual evidence or proof because we must believe all women because men are universally bad. And to cap it all now those pesky Courts and their “due process” are to be sidelined for “special courts”. The very same people who would roundly condemn the idea all black men are sexual predators swing behind effectively the same lie, all men are sexual predators. And in different ways destroy men deliberately in ways that deny their human rights and civil rights because there need be no actual proof, being accused is enough. Were this to be happening specifically to black men, Hindu men, or some other group it would be as plainly wicked and a denial of human rights and justice as back in the 40s and 50s “Jim Crow” states. Yet “all men” seems to make the lie so huge that the even the guardians of the Universal Declaration of Human rights don’t see it.

  2. Yes Nigel feminism involves basically the same mind set as racism. The big difference is that racism is an unfashionable prejudice but feminism involves a fashionable prejudice which is therefore seen not as a prejudice but as a principle. To elaborate my parents were genuinely shocked by the idea that male homosexuality should be legalised but recently my wife was working in a comprehensive school and one of the students expressed the view that being gay is “not right ” He was roundly condemned by the rest of the class. We dont become more tolerant we just change our “principles ” ( or prejudices if you prefer )
