Ex-judge slams plans for juryless rape trials: Controversial shake-up of Scottish legal system is ‘repugnant’ and potentially unlawful, Lord Uist says

Our thanks to Gerry for this. He writes:

Lord Uist is right. If this bill passes, judges will be targeted and fired if they don’t comply. Slowly the feminist cancer will metastasize and some grievance groups will insist there not enough convictions while others will claim there are too many convictions. Then the bias of the gutter intellectuals will be baked in to our public institutions.

  1. This local case .https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-65475520 Illustrates the ways in which already the dice are loaded against the defendant. Quite apart from the dodgy evidence presented the Police and CPS clearly concealed important evidence about witnesses from the court and therefore the defence. As was revealed in 2018 this sort of concealing of evidence, particularly from mobile phones and social media, was routine from the Police and CPS in recent years, to get more convictions. Interestingly the MoJ, Criminal Bar Association and even the BBC in separate investigations estimated this meant 25% of convictions were “unsound”. And perhaps this is connected with the fact that in subsequent years convictions fell by a quarter. A fall that is ised by feminists to claim men are “getting off” whereas more likely is that more often justice is done without the manipulations of evidence that were prevalent previously. There is no evidence for any assertions about juries or judges doing anything other than establishing convictions “beyond reasonable doubt”. If any thing needs looking at it’s the past cases 25% of which are likely to reflect Police and CPS manipulations.
