Our thanks to Nigel for this. He writes:
I suppose few in the men’s rights arena pay much attention to the Green Party. However another casualty of the feminist double-think is the female leader.
Clearly the notion of gender being a choice and biology being a mere minor part of it came directly from feminist theory and policies. Hence all the occasions physical tests and rules have to be changed to pretend women can do the same jobs as men. Yet when it is that people act on this and adopt a gender adjusting biology to suit, it turns out is not OK after all. You’d think men wanting to get on touch with their feminine side and joining the ladies would be a good thing for feminists, fewer toxic masculine men a good step towards a female world with a few well-tamed men to do some heavy lifting.
So the feminist Sian Berry comes a cropper with other feminists in her party, which theoretically is focused on the much bigger issue of saving the whole planet, but apparently more concerned about ladies’ toilets. And of course that’s the thing, it turns out all the hullaballoo is about “women’s rights” and how awful it will be if someone male got near to these “rights”, no matter how agreeably feminine they perform female “gender”. Of course there are no “men’s rights” mentioned, because there are none, nothing to “protect” by excluding women who indulge their masculine side, no rush of women trying to get into men’s prisons etc. Because the “men’s” version of anything is invariably crap in comparison.
I wonder if any feminists will reflect on just who it was who banged on for decades about gender being a “social construct” and biology a tiny influence and announced at every juncture “the future is female” because every single problem is men’s fault. Or if women are so oppressed how come it is women have rights based on sex and men don’t…?
