Conservative Woman fundraiser

We’ve been enthusiastic supporters of The Conservative Woman website since its launch six years ago, and frequently link to pieces on it. They’ve published some of our pieces, most lately In praise of the brave female anti-feminists. They’ve just launched their 2020 crowdfunder appeal, with a target of £30,000. Please support them by donating whatever you can afford. Thank you.

Labour’s Feminist Love Island superfans mourn their favourite abuser Caroline Flack yet ignore the suicide of male colleague

A tip of the hat to HEqual for this. We were sorry to hear of the suicide of Caroline Flack. Listening to BBC Radio 4 yesterday, I noted two recurring narratives regarding Caroline Flack, namely that (a) prosecuting her wasn’t in the public interest, and (b) her partner hadn’t wanted the prosecution to proceed, so it shouldn’t have. Needless to say, had the sexes been reversed, neither narrative would have been heard on the BBC (or indeed elsewhere in the mainstream media).

On 17 May we’ll be hosting the first National Conference on Men’s Issues, in Manchester, Domestic abuse is a men’s issue, too. Details here, list of speakers etc. here. I strongly urge you to order your ticket(s) (£95.00 including lunch and unlimited tea and coffee) by 7 March at the latest. Thank you.

Bettina Arndt update

Just received:

Hi Everybody,

Brief report from the battle zone. Silly me, thinking that an honours award would be a time for celebration.

Instead the mob is trying to have me deplatformed, as my enemies seize the moment attempting to tear me from limb to limb. I’m waiting for them to dig up some teenage boy from my distant past who will swear that I groped him, without his enthusiastic consent, in the back seat of an FJ Holden in Canberra’s pine forests.

It’s funny how many people have sent messages pointing out that this mighty flak must mean I am over the target. My work is clearly making a difference, highlighting the plight of men and boys which is why the shrinking group of feminist activists is engaged in a blood-crazed feeding frenzy seeking to silence me. It’s really a great tribute.

One thing is for sure. Any successful man who’s had a long career will now think twice about accepting an award, with feminists so determined to dig for dirt to discredit anyone who has ever challenged their orthodoxies. But we must not let them win. Many more of us need to take a stand and refuse to be intimidated.

Our captured media

It’s been quite extraordinary watching our mainstream media happily promoting Nina Funnell’s dirt campaign against me, with no attempt to verify sources or question the fairness or accuracy of her accusations. The latest example, published at the weekend, was this nasty serve from David Penberthy, The Australian’s SA correspondent. The article is behind a paywall.

Penberthy is married to former Labor MP Kate Ellis, who during her brief time as a  Minister including as Minister for Women, poured funding into the usual feminist coffers, supporting campaigns which demonize men. She’s long been publicly attacking me. See her tweet the day after my award was announced. It’s hardly a coincidence that Penberthy was previously editor of news.com.au, which published the most ferocious Funnel attacks on me. How come News Corp doesn’t require him to acknowledge his conflict of interest?

You may remember that Funnell attempted defamation action against me some years ago, but my wonderful defender, the eminent QC Tony Morris, sent a shot across her bows and she backed off. In recent weeks she’s used her team of feminist lawyers to threaten any media source that gives me a voice, particularly if I highlight her campaign.

Luckily overseas media has noticed the kerfuffle and interviews with me should soon appear in a number of important publications, including spiked-online, and Quillette. And I loved this sterling defence published in Penthouse.

Any publicity is good publicity?

The great irony is that the mudslinging is leading many people to discover my work who knew nothing about me before. Over the past two to three weeks I have received many, many hundreds of emails of support. Including emails from women like this:

Great stuff, Bettina! I have been waiting and waiting for someone like you to come along and expose the vilification of men.

Or this:

“I deeply appreciate the work you are doing on behalf of men in the gender discussions. I have three sons who are both strong and gentle, and always decent. They each have daughters and sons who are being raised to be respectful of each other. The current public discourse on masculinity troubles me greatly and I am grateful for your efforts to balance the ledger.”

It’s been really exciting to have so many people stop me in the streets telling me they applaud my efforts. And thank you to the many people who are sending financial support, including some extremely generous donors.

Back to work – stopping those kangaroo courts.

Many of you are helping with my campaign to make sure the universities get out of the business of investigating and adjudicating rape. In the past few weeks we have had over 15 universities respond to the detailed letters we sent out, which ask how they propose to deal with the Queensland Supreme Court’s decision that these kangaroo courts are illegal.

The responses were most revealing, ranging from gobsmackingly arrogant to dismissive and banal.  Most universities sidestepped the key issues we raised and refused to supply answers to our list of questions, most particularly about whether their procedures offer proper legal protections to the accused.

My team of lawyers, which includes an eminent retired judge, is planning our next strategy, which may include further questions which we will ask you to send back to those universities. We will certainly be putting together a publication exposing how they are dealing with this issue. There is no way we are going to let them off the hook.

That’s it for now. Sorry I am having such trouble responding to all the correspondence I am receiving. Will keep ploughing through it, but I really want to get on with my real work. I have a very exciting video coming up for you soon.

Cheers, Tina

My original announcement:

I’m pleased to announce J4MB will be hosting the first National Conference on Men’s Issues – as opposed to an international conference – to be held in the UK. It will be held at a premier venue in Manchester on Sunday, 17 May, 2020. Details here. The event title is Domestic abuse is a men’s issue, too. We’re delighted at the range of speakers. The keynote speaker will be Professor Nicola Graham-Kevan, whose work is well known to many J4MB supporters. William Collins will also be speaking, along with other speakers who are well-known or not so well-known to J4MB supporters.

I hope to see many of our supporters at the event. On the preceding evening, Saturday, 16 May, I’ll be in the venue’s bar along with William Collins, Elizabeth Hobson and Natty Raymond. We look forward to meeting as many supporters as possible. Apart from William, we’ll also be in the bar on the evening of the event.

‘Meghan on the make’ – it’s all about the money

A piece by Kathy Gyngell, published on TCW. I repeat my prediction that Ms Markle will file for divorce before this year is out. It’s all gone exactly to plan for her so far. It’s probably too optimistic to hope that Harry will be one filing for divorce, once he realises (if he hasn’t already) why men should never have intimate relationships with feminists, let alone marry them. Lawrence Fox got that right. Hopefully, if he ever  decides to marry, it will be to a normal woman. As and when he announces his engagement I’ll send him a copy of my book The Marriage Delusion: the fraud of the rings? (2009).

‘If all freelancers walked out, the TV industry would stop’

Our thanks to Nigel for this piece on the BBC website. He writes:

One of my neighbours is a TV/Film sound technician. Of course the vast majority of his colleagues over the years have been men. All on such freelance contracts or with short contracts for each production they work on. Even for the BBC. So it has always struck me how the current “Equal Pay” stuff amongst the salaried staff in News and BBC “management” actually applies to relatively few people, in very cushy jobs indeed, out of the many thousands that actually do the work on the content “commissioned” by this small but incredibly well paid group. In a media version of the “glass cellar” the BBC has thousands of men working to produce actual programmes without any of the comfy certainty of the highly paid salaried staff such as Carrie Gracie. Literally unseen and metaphorically in the cellar.
