Our thanks to Jim Johnson for sending a FOI request to the Home Office concerning the relationship between sexuality and the likelihood of being a victim of domestic abuse, and asking why official data on domestic abuse victims hadn’t been broken down by sexuality since 2011. The Home Office reply is here and indicates that data broken down by sexuality were re-introduced in 2018.
The Home Office letter links to reports covering the years to March 2018 and March 2019. For ease of use, I’ve highlighted the key data in yellow, for people aged 16-59, in spreadhsheets for the years to the end of March 2018 and March 2019. A key finding, which has been true for all such reports of which I’m aware, is that lesbians are more likely to be victims of domestic abuse than straight women. Damn those patriarchs for forcing lesbians to abuse other women!
