Philip Hammond, Chancellor, hires Sapphire Partners, “diversity focused” recruitment firm, to find next Bank of England Governor

Appalling. Sapphire Partners, in a section of their website titled, What sets us apart?, have this:

We are trailblazers. For nearly a decade we have been advocates for women in business. We were the first executive search firm to actively promote women and we are as passionate about supporting and nurturing women now as we were then. We continue to be magnets for securing female talent in a market that now realises the incredible contribution that women bring at executive level. While we are champions for women, our door is open to all talented professionals, whatever their gender.

We search for hidden gems. We are hardworking and tenacious in our search to find truly great candidates, whether it’s burgeoning talent or skills that have not yet been recognised. [J4MB: Hmm, why have their “burgeoning” talents or skills not yet been recognised? My own burgeoning talent and skills as a top-flight footballer have yet to be recognised.]

And who do we find on the Advisory Board? That radical feminist harridan, Cherie Blair.

Regarding Men #13 – The Sliming of ICMI19

Enjoy (video, 33:24). Paul Elam, Janice Fiamengo, and Tom Golden on good form. A video promoted by the recent ludicrous hit piece in The Guardian concerning speakers at the forthcoming Chicago conference.

Karen Straughan (GirlWritesWhat) responds to Cambridge University feminists seeking to deny J4MB a platform on 24 May

Followers of this blog will need no introduction to Karen Straughan, a Canadian anti-feminist Men’s Rights Activist (MRA), and a legend in the Men’s Right Movement (MRM). But this site has a steady stream of visitors who know little or nothing about the MRM – many of them students from Camberidge University, currently – so some background is in order.

For almost a decade, Karen has been among the most gifted and influential communicators in the MRM, of either sex. She started vlogging in 2010, under the pseudonym “GirlWritesWhat”. She was later doxxed, and has since published and operated under her real name. Her YouTube channel has 217,000+ subscribers.

Karen has spoken at every International Conference on Men’s Issues since the first in Detroit, in 2014. At the last London conference, last July, she was the keynote speaker. Her talk was Why women must consign feminism to the dustbin of history (video, 56:42, includes a lengthy Q&A).

Karen is also one of the two key organizers of the forthcoming Chicago conference (the other is another Canadian anti-feminist MRA, Alison Tieman).

So, why am I writing about this amazing woman just now? This morning we posted a piece in relation to the second hit piece on J4MB printed by Varsity, the student newspaper. It was titled, “J4MB should not be legitimised under the guise of free speech”. Karen posted some lengthy comments (below), not knowing that Varsity doesn’t publish comments – at least, it hasn’t published comments in relation to the two pieces attacking J4MB – so we thought we’d publish her comments here. Our thanks to Karen for taking the time to write what she did.

Speakers’ Corner, London – where Men’s Rights Activists (MRAs) and other anti-feminists meet. Join us there, Sunday, 19 May.

27 January, 2019, left to right:

Nostradormouse, Lynton, Jack, Richard, Rod, Ewan, Big Nose, Mike

Today was another successful day at Speakers’ Corner, the speakers were on good form, as usual we had very good engagement with passers-by, and handed out plenty of leaflets. Six people on stepladders today:

Rod

Ewan Jones

Lynton

Nostradormouse

Richard

Myself

We invite you to meet us the next time we (and other MRAs and anti-feminists) will be at Speakers’ Corner, on Sunday, 19 May. As usual we’ll be meeting at a nearby cafe at 09:30 (if you’re known to us, contact me – mike@j4mb.org.uk – I’ll let you know the address) and we try to get to Speakers’ Corner by 10:30 – 11:00. We look forward to meeting you, whether it’s your first time there, or not. Over the course of this year we’ll be recording video footage of the MRAs who engage in public speaking, and engage with members of the public, for a video of our work there.

We’ll again be displaying large placards with the theme “Equal rights for men and women”, which you may recall was a key theme of the 2018 conference. We’ll be handing out the related leaflets, printed on both sides, here and here. And we’ll be protesting against the crime of Male Genital Mutilation, as we always do.

The largest placards (printed both sides) are more than a metre high, and cost about £30 each, but they’re very impactful and readable from a considerable distance, so…

Varsity: “J4MB should not be legitimised under the guise of free speech”

Having failed to stop our forthcoming talks with false allegations of harassment and threatening behaviour, Cambridge feminists are now making false allegations about misogyny and hate speech, which will come as no surprise to J4MB supporters, or all the women who are organizing, speaking, and otherwise attending the forthcoming Chicago International Conference on Men’s Issues, the fifth in the series. A woeful new piece in Varsity, the student newspaper, is here. The final paragraph:

The misogyny that J4MB represents should not be legitimised as a topic that our freedom of expression enables us to engage with. The University’s Statement on Freedom of Speech states that events which “pose a genuine risk to the welfare” will not be platformed. Ultimately, the duty of the University lies with its students: controversial hate speech should not be housed here, of all places. J4MB represent more than the ‘imminent threats to [students’] preconceived ideas’ that Elizabeth Hobbs, [J4MB: Hobson] its Director of Communications suggests. The aggression they have exhibited online [J4MB: What aggession?] represents a very real risk to students’ welfare. In allowing their presence on campus, the University fails to support its female identifying student body. This endorsement of misogyny in exchange for this brand of free speech is a price too steep to pay.

Crystal Smith, Kansas elementary school teacher, filmed kicking 5-year-old girl in the school library

Our thanks to Lars for this (video, 1:08).

Only 90%+ of elementary school teachers are female. The kids need more of them.

‘I strangled her, she’s dead’: Chilling words of abusive woman, 66, as she told police she had killed her 70-year-old girlfriend of 30 years are revealed as she is jailed for eight years for manslaughter

Daily Mail caption: Sheila Lockridge, 66, who was charged with murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court today.

It has long been known that of the three gendered possibilities in 1:1 intimate relationships (M/F, M/M, F/F), the highest levels of interpersonal violence are found in lesbian couples. Why, those damned patriarchs and their gendered violence! Our thanks to Mike P for this.

A supporter’s thoughts on voting in elections

Our thanks to a supporter for sending this in, a couple of days ago:

I have just been to vote in the local elections and a thought struck me. Given that men travel further to work and spend longer periods away from home during the course of their work, how many men have effectively been disenfranchised by their job today?

According to my voter card, it is technically possible to apply for a proxy vote even up to 5pm on the day of voting, but this is hardly easy when you are trying to carry out your job away from home at the same time, especially if you only find out you will be away at very short notice. Men who are married are likely to entrust their wives with a proxy vote. This of course means that their wife effectively gets two vote to her husband’s none – no one can possibly check if she used his vote as he intended.

Possibly, men are also more likely to miss voting due to having to work late unexpectedly. With more women working part time, it will be easier for women to access the polling stations at any point during the day.

It seems to me as though these factors add up to effective discrimination against men as a group. I wonder how much the voting ratio between men and women is skewed as a result. There is a great deal of debate – particularly in the USA – on how voter registration discriminates against certain groups, and any factor that might make it harder for one group than another to vote is seen as discriminatory. Is this not the same thing?
